EVO IX - Max boost on stock Exhaust & ECU?

Hi,

Is there anyone here running a stock EVO IX with just a MBC & filter and 20-21psi boost on pump grade 93 Octane fuel? No ECU re-flash!?!

How much extra HP are you guys seeing with just those simple mods?

Looking at simple, yet effective bolt-on's that can be easily & quickly removed prior to service time and fitted back afterwards

For some some reason, looking at the numbers some IXs have posted here, bolt ons with out flashes/tunes are not seeing impressive gains. Now with a flash, the gains are impressive.

Yeah, the ECU is too smart for it's own good ... you will be bumping up against it's numerous failsafe mechanisms including fuel cut, timing pull, and boost lowering ...

You should really just get a flash IMHO, it's not like dealers regularly scan your ECU and pull the checksum to see if it's been altered during service visits ...

heh, good point ... forgot to look at his location (although I have a hard time believing that they could possibly be more warranty unfriendly than they are in the US!)

Add a flash to that and it can be upwards of a 70whp/wtq gain

When you say exhaust, I assume you mean full TBE by the way.

Without some EM, all bets are off since you'll be fighting fuel cut and other failsafe (anti-fun) measures built in the stock ECU.

Hmmm.. may just need to fit a full TBE, Flash, MBC & drop-in-filter and remove all of it when it comes time to service time I guess.

I doubt very much they go to the effort of checking the checksums in the ECU's down here. Then again, these tight ar$e dealers would do anything to get out of a 10 year warranty
