You have an Evo, so you're now in a higher echelon. Leave them to their woeful Dubs...-Warrtalon
-haha now ^thats^ FUNNY.. seriously.. what kind of traction and how much money would it cost to build a 900fwhp GTI vs. a 900awhp EVO....... lol not talkin about the R32 cuz most of the guys in there dont have one and they obviously have no REAL knowledge of the EVO. I bet a test drive or a ride in one would greatly change theyre small minded opinions! 4G63t-best 4 cyl. out of japan ever! IMO

thats because STOCK R32's dyno about 185whp. I used to have a 1.8T gti that i did a few goodies on, and i walked a stock r32 also. My gti only had apr flash, EVOMS dv, tt shortshifter, a "J valve, and eibach pro-system i was an avid dubhead for about 4yrs, but now have an IX, hence the name

Don't let it get to you. The R32, which is VWs best performer, still doesnt even come close to the performance of an Evo. The VW is a compromise; It offers more luxury and less performance.

^^ VW and Audi have tons of relability problems... If you work in the automotive industry or know anyone who does, they will tell you every thing about it. Tons of problems when they get older and some wierd designs that make it hard to work on/repair.

My friend has a 1.8T GTI with a APR stage 3+ that he tracks on road courses. I swear something breaks every 2-3 months. He's torn the wheel hubs off, his shocks have snapped in two and the wheel bolts holding his wheels on have snapped. Bad wheel bearings, hoses popping off, gaskets going bad, oil leaks... Throw that on top of all the electrical problems he gets: key's chip transmitter stopped working, couldn't start the car, power door locks broke, wierd flashing lights in the gauge cluster... definitely not worth the trouble! And this is a 3 year old car with less than 30K miles!

my friends audi tt, has the same reliability issues as ur friends gti. I cant stand the thing. It would be a kinda cool car, little 240hp awd TT, but the thing cant stay in one piece.
Something strange about vdubbers though. Its like, they know their cars break a lot, and in all reality have a tough time keeping up with competition, but they are in a constant state of denial. I know I too was once there!

thats some funny stuff right there... some people are just plain stupid.

I own both an EVO and a turboVR6, I can say the EVO is my choice for daily driving but on the weekends I chose the VR6T to have fun in.

I wouldn't even be putting these cars in the same class though, they are two completely different animials.

It doesn't matter what other people are going to say, of coarse your going to get **** its a VW website. However it does show the intellagence level over there when you can't have a discussion about another car model without people resorting to name calling.

because he owns an VW not an EVO. THat is the same kind of attitude they are showing over there... it doesn't sound any better coming from an EVO owner as it does coming from a VW owner.

When you do get an Evo and get ready to sell it be ready for the same kind of responses or worse coming from this camp.

They don't know what they are missing....I owned only VW's until I purchased my evo..Had Rabbit GTI's all the way to my mk4 GTI that I installed an APR stage 3 kit on...

If you want to compare build quality VW vs Mistu...It's a no contest...They both are in the lower rung among all cars. They are the type of cars that only 2 people should own...The first owner would be knowledgeable with the car and be able to diag/repair it themselves...The second owner would have tons of money to throw down at the dealer..because both cars will eventually turn to crap.

Performance-wise...There's really a no contest...The Evo flat out will be a better car than any stock VW...VW doesn't really care too much about the American buyer when it comes to hardcore performance..They cater more so to the fat americans who want a "sporty" ride that sacrifices hanlding and performance for comfort and style.

When the Evo was released in '03 I became friends with a long time DSM guy who bought an Evo when they hit the dealer...Needless to say I was ready to sell the GTI shortly thereafter...I'm not impulsive, I'm not a bandwagon car buyer..I knew that my GTI could never be what the Evo was no matter how much money I sunk into it..

This will give you an idea of what happens when you have get the GTI to around 270whp and drive it hard:

Inner CV joint...Can you say explosion? Guess thats what happens after you upgrade the clutch and differential....

Broken lower motor mount...Not one...2..This one I even made an aluminum bushing to replace the cracked urethane ones...

I put a assload of effort into putting my car together..and even more money, but in the end it just wasn't enough to satisfy my needs as a car enthusiast/mechanic and after a long wait I finally go into my evo..

Um, there's a big difference. They have no reason to have that attitude, and we do. As I said, the Evo is a higher echelon, and that is indisputable. I don't care one bit about VWs and wouldn't waste a second arguing with their owners, nor should Jeff. The Evo is superior, period.

I have owned a R32 and currently driving a EVO 9 MR, I have no regret about ditching the R32. Mostly all the VW owners was hating on my new EVO 9 MR, but at the end of the day...my EVO will destroy the R32 in all aspect of performance.
