I gotta say no to that one
Here are pictures of a W8 that had engine problems with only 30k on it. REMEMBER BOTH ENGINES ARE NEARLY THE SAME, IN TERMS OF HOW THEY WORK.
I have 28 hours in repairing the problem. Chain adjuster and housings were bad.
Engine removed, Note trans comes out with;

Engine apart;

See what I mean VW's are really starting to suck

Would somebody in a few short sentences explain to me why there is such a high rate of EVO accidents, especially single car accidents?

too much power than some people can handle

Power itself doesn't cause accidents - Hubris does - It's something the VW/Audi community doesn't typically suffer from, but it runs rampant in this community.

That same Hubris can be found in the Porsche and Ferrari NA clubs. They suffer some of the highest number of fatalities in HPDE because many believe money buys everything, including skill.

Unfortunately, I don't see a "Right" answer to my question. Is it the car, or is it the driver? To answer the question means someone/something is likely to get bashed.

I hope that people learn when to drive fast, how to drive fast, and what the appropriate safety measures are for driving fast. For those that want to really learn this stuff, go to an Audi NA event. Of course, don't go if you mind being taught by the frequent guests like Derek Bell and Michael Galati (taught me how to throttle steer). I DID NOT get hated on - in fact, there were more BMWs, Soobies and VWs than Audis at the 05 National events.

Thumbs down

In the past (late 90's) people told me how reliable VW was, and when I finally got the money, I bought my first VR6 VW. It was a sound car, quite comfortable... but man, there was no performance at all. And how about the factory warranty... at that time it was 2yr/24k. I had $3500.00 in repairs between 24k and 30k, and I never added a single mod. What a piece of shizzle!

I got out of that heap as soon as I could, and ended up takin' er in the rear because of no residual value, and it was imo overpriced... (hindsight is 20/20).

No I am gettin' close to gettin' out of my pontiac (I know I know... my Dad works for GM, so it was the cheapest thing to get, until I got some money saved for my next car). I have completely convinced my wife into us getting an Evo for my next car! She knows what it is all about, so I have not muddied up the truth! I have wanted an Evo since 2003 when they were released here in NA.

I drive past the mitsu dealer here in town nearly once a week, and those guys are thinkin' I'm a freak for stoppin in every once in a while, just to check those damn things out!

I have got to get me one, and now it is just a matter of time! August 2006, I'm gettin' me a Evo IX! Hells yeah!

VW sucks!!!

whatttt! i can't believe they are picking an audi TT over a rally-inspired EVO in a handling competition. the one thing i have about VW guys (even though i am one) is that they are very hardnosed in their opinons, and hate anything thats not "euro". im definitely not like that. i hope to get my MR sometime next year

ack hm ....
I will have both of them from Friday .....

TT has too much understeer at limit,
especially at auto X
basically I can turn and dun hit any brake and the car uses understeer as braking

stock to stock , TT def not going to handle better than Evo

on the other hand , I am not sure if evo has strong braking or just the one I drove wasnt at optimal brake efficiency
