Anyone got torque specs for that plug? I'll take a look in the FSM to see if I can find it and can post it up here.

a pipe threaded insert is tapered, the material gets slightly larger (diameter) the further up the threads. sometimes just a little 1/8 or 1/16 turn on the insert (sender) will stop the leak. teflon tape won't hurt either. most of the oil should be in the pan, some may leak out if you take the sender out. just take it out, put a pan under it, clean the sender and area of the insert up, put some tape on the sender, snug it up and replace the oil that leaked out. oh, and check for leaks

dont use teflon tape the chemicals in oils arent compatible with teflon tape. u use teflon with water plumbing and gas piping. You should use some sort of PIPE DOPE

Where was your source for this (mis)information?

MSDS for Polytetrafluoroethane
List of materials compatible with teflon

Do you cook your eggs with butter only? j/k

if you wrap the teflon on backwards against the thread direction it will not hold a good seal, learned that lesson from repairing paintball markers

Teflon is a carcinogen(sp) and may cause cancer in lab mice.
Do you want that in your engine?
LOL
but yeah, use teflon tape if you don't want leak

Definitely use teflon tape. But don't over wrap it though.

fixed it today before I read all the new replies. Well all i did was put the pan under (was ready for a lot of oil to come out) and about a few tablespoons or so came out. So all i did was take out the sender and wrapped the threads with the teflon tape and reinstalled. Then cleaned up the area and started the car let it sit for a while. And guess what no more leak!

Thanks for the help everyone.

Oh yeah and one of my original questions was will a lot of oil come out from the sender. The answer is no for everyone that said it would. A very minimal amount came out and there was no need to drain all the oil out. I could have left it as is, because I still had enough oil in it, but I decided to add a little just in case.

Cool, glad it worked out for you! I'm still going to wait on my installation until I change my oil next time, though...
