mmm... actually... with a good river... the vette would beat you at the strip and at the track... sounds like your friend is just plain unconfident. if it were me (in the vette)... i'd take the offer to race but that might be because i love american cars as well as japanese cars and i know what chevy can do with the proper driving.

this... i'm in a bit of a toss up... the new ford v8s have cute lil dohcs in the cobras... that's SO COOOL... but i know i like the l1/6 or ls2/7... so yeah... toss up...

well... the thing is he's prolly unexperienced. sensation of speed is very different from teh pasenger side... i bet i could make him scared in his own car :\ and you could too prolly. he shouldn't be afraid of your car... the vette is a hair away from a race car just as the evo is... race car vs race car... it's a fair game. go at it, have fun and keep it safe.

God created lag to give the v-8 punks a chance.

Vettes are quick and pull very hard after 70. but its that first 1320 that kills them.

at least we have 4 doors, a trunk and a baby seat harness !!
i think this is really pointless to say, it's all about hte ultimate potential of a vehicle... adn in the end after everyone's dumped their entire life savings into each car... which comes out on top? now that would all depend on the type of racing your doing but that's why i like BOTH these cars and i don't say pointless stuff like that.

AMS has the fastest EVO in the country.
why don't i tell YOU that i can build a 9 second camaro for half the price...

I've got to chime in on this too. Go do a search for the huge amount of links I've posted or just go look for yourself on corvetteforum.com, ls1tech.com, z06vette.com.

There are 9 second pump gas vettes, 8 second FULL INTERIOR WITH A CAGE race gas vettes and race gas to many vette owners isn't c16 it's 104 unleaded

In the end you can take 30K and put it in a EVO and run 9's if you're a good driver no lift shifts the whole way etc. Or you can take much less in some instances or more depending on how fast you want to go and stick it in a vette and run 9's all day in a auto or a stick the good driver mod would need to be applied again though, but no lift shifts aren't 100% necessary. 9 runs in a row go take a 9 second EVO to the track and make 9 back to back runs I'm willing to bet that something will usually break. FWIW this car's new best is 8.57!!

Here is a link for you; how many EVO's do this? NONE

I'd hope that most people realize that the Evo and the Vette (especially the z06) are not comparable, or even similar cars in any respect... except crappy interior

oh geez..... this is why i don't advocate drag racing evos... cuz a vette will stomp you... maybe even on the street :\. a quarter mile is a long way.... and if you're racing light to light you'd never know you street ricer, but when you do it the real way, the big boy engines will always win.

but... in the interest of keeping hte industry alive, i'll tolerate it. keep pumpin' out those parts br, ams, pruve, turbotrix et al.

Loud and proud? Perhaps you shouldnt shoot your mouth off as much as you do. I said that the Evo is not meant to be a drag car, and if you can show me where it says any different Id be glad to retract my statement. Last I checked FIA WRC events involved timed attacks all various off/on road courses, not blasting down 1320 feet of asphault.

That being said, AMS, Dynoflash, and HKS (oddball in an all domestic group) all do wonderful jobs modifying the Evo and making it a very respectable machine in the quarter mile. But you are wrong to think the stock Evo's purpose is to be a drag car, which was my point in the first place. Do yourself a favor and actually read the post next time.

Let me 2003lanerEvo8 I can post links of 9 second Cobras with 11K in mods, 10.0@140 second cobras with 6K in mods, Cobras running 6.70's in the 1/8th with 5k in mods.

There is even a viper pump gas beating a 9.8@151mph car by 5 car lengths from 70-170 vid is supposed to be up shortly!! No offense to AMS or any other EVO tuner, but think about that a pump gas viper putting car lengths on the fastest EVO in the country not even on race gas Vipers set the bar IMO for the best in street/strip/track all around car, but they just don't make them in 4 doors and my kids won't fit!!

I get to pick up my car today with the cams installed. lol. I hope it's drivable until i get the custome tune, i miss it. Honestly i never knew that the vette's were sooo damn fast. My friend purchased his for 42k. That's only 12 grande more than what i paid for my evo. o well, i'm 100% happy with the evo, nothing like drifting in the snow. hehe
