I think i may have gotten myself in trouble
it will come down to the driver....if u bog u launch ur done....if he spins through 1st and 2nd he's done....they are both equal on the track...now from a rolling start, its obvious he has a v8 advantage and you might jump on him at first, but he *will* catch up
wow alot of ignorance in this thread.
if you think a stock C6 vette is going to be slower than a flashed, tbe, mbc EVO you are all smoking CRACK. (particularly an EVO 8)
the LS2/C6 combo is as fast as the outgoing LS6/C5 Z06. its in the mid 12's consistently in the 1/4 mile if not lower depending on driver, and also, when talking about topend, a 8 year old LS1 will assrape an EVO 8 from a roll (like on the highway) stock for stock, modded is a different story. anyone who underestimates LS1/LS6/LS2 (lets not even mention the C6 Z06 LS7) because its a "pushrod old tech motor" is going to be in for a suprise at how well they pull and breathe all the way up to 6200 rpm (redline is like 6400). they are topend monsters and have excellent midrange torque, and adequate low-end torque. my '01 LS1 pulled like a raped ape and was much faster than my current EVO 8.
now if you encounter pre '98 f-cars and vettes with the LT1 they had all lowend torque and there topend midrange was sorely lacking when compared to the all aluminum LSX series V8's.
if you're going to dragrace a C6 vette you better come packing or hope the guy cant drive/launch worth a ****, because they are very fast.

^ this is why i think i may get my hiney handed to me.
OH well, you win some and you lose some, can't very well win them all can i? hehe
Dude don't even sweat it. Run some race gas and turn up the boost a little and hope for the best. Either way the race will be close and you spent about half as much on your car.
Dude its stock c6 and its an AUTOMATIC!!, not sayin autos are slow but hey i dont think there is a launch procedure for an auto. So he'll run around 12.5-13.0. U have those mods and stuff, and if u launch well and do shift well, im saying ur run is around 12.0-12.5, ur gonna have the cams installed so that will def give u a bigger advantage. The race is urs, if its a Z06... a different story, if its a z06 he will most likely kick ur butt unless u put race gas and turn the boost up then it will be a more tight race.
Didnt feel like reading through 5 pages.. But to answer your question, if you can drive halfway decent you should spank the c6. I raced a c6, and the best they could do was 13.0
Probably bad drivers, but still.

thx for the encouragement. My initial reaction to him buying the vette was this "cake walk for me" The reason i posted is because when he gave me a ride in his vette, it completely scared the bejeesus outa me making me wonder what would actually happen

and the lambo is the most awesome car ever isn't it... dude the raging bull weighs as much as 5 1000 pound bulls... and for hte mathmatically impaired that's like 5000 pounds.... you swear like it's a track car... you know what the formulation for a lambo is... sleak body, big engine, big noise, big price tag. is racing anywehre in that formulation? no.
the vette weighs less... makes more hp and uses bigger tires... in the old fashion book of racing... that means win. these days... things are a lil more complicated... but you don't deviate too much from the old school with the doodads that come on cars nowadays.
