Evo 8 vs. Evo 9 on roll along..

All:

I have an Evo 8 with the following mods:

tbe w/high-flo cat
k&n dropin
ams lower i/c pipe
boost controller
reflash

my friend has an Evo 9 with the following mods:

tbe
aem cold-air intake
boost controller

Who do you think would win on a roll along to 120mph? Who would have the higher trap speed down the quarter?

Thanks,

-M

id say you, due to the fact you have a reflash. if he had one with possibly some other mods i think it would be a different story.

Are you saying it's a driver's race? That would make the two cars have very close power output then..

Interesting. A reflashed EVo 8 with just tbe is probably equal in power to a stock 9.

It's an 03 but I do have the 10.5 hotside (but wasn't tuned with it on).. The reflash was tuned only with tbe.. so technically, i'm not tuned properly.

im saying if the guy in the 9 sucks at driving then the guy in the 8 will win if he is good. i think the 8 has the addvantidge because of the mods but meens nothing if they cane drive. plus look at all the 9's with thos mods and the power there leting out compared to the 8 and the power.

im sticking with the 9 if there bouth good driviers

Hehehe.. I did. I wanted to know what people thought before I posted the outcome.

One other thing I noticed is that my gearing is different than his. Is this true or is it because I can take my car to a higher redline because of the reflash? IOW, are the 05-06's gears shorter or longer than the 03-04's?

I'm very surprised that you guys consider this a drivers race. I would automatically give it to the 9 because of the MIVEC (tuned or not). My car doesn't have cams or cam gears.. it should get waxed with the 9's mods since my car with a reflash tuned for tbe was only 9whp higher than a stock 9.

Yes the gearings are different between the VIII and the IX, not sure how much but they are different so that leads us to the important question....who won?

My guess would be you beat him by a car and half. He needs to get a tune for his mods.
