Old guys in EVOs
I was born in 1949 and have had my Evo GSR since 2004. I love the thing and am slowly modding it as my wallet allows. Thing is a blast to drive. As a kid I owned a string of modded BMW 2002's(including ti's, tii's, and a factory 2002 turbo car), also a sleeper Buick Turbo Regal(like a GN), a '56 Speedster, and some bikes. I love going fast.
To all of you who think some are too old to enjoy motorsports... Wrong!!!
My grandfather was always interested in racing but because of 6 kids, and the air force never got a chance to get into it.
At the age 67 he plunked down 40 thousand for a midget(1000 lb open wheel 400 HP 4 cyl dirt track) car, and 10 for a cosworth engine. He assembled a pit crew, and said screw it, we're goin racing. My grandfather was racing 3 wide in turns with kids that are 16, 17... Lots of bawls, you get the idea. He actually managed to place 1st in C-main like 15 times. He kept racing until the age of 81; Flipped the car 13 times... yes, 13 times in a roll. He had a subdural hematoma and got brain surgery. After that he finally hung his flame retardant shoes up. If anyone is actually interested in my grandpa, I'll find the links... He was on the front page of Waukesha Freeman.
When I brought my Evo home... He's like huhhh.... That looks fast. I'm like it is.... It's a WRC car.
Turns out he knows all about the WRC although its not really his favorite. He's stuck on the circle track stuff.

I'm 52 and have been a Speed junkie since the age of 13, when I started taking flying lessons. Had a Flight License before my driver's license. After college I moved on to the USMC and flew F4s for 6 years. The EVO is the latest in a series of Rides that feed my need for speed. I'll sell to a younger junkie down the road when I move on with the Skyline. To all the young Bucks out their...be safe so that you can enjoy your passions at 52 and beyond.
