Have you tried racing on your stock suspension yet? I think you'd be amazed at how good the stock suspension is. I haven't touched mine yet, and have been VERY successful in both road racing and autocrossing. I suggest spending a year maximizing your skills on the stock suspension before going with coilovers. Nothing worse than having suspension mods and getting whooped by another Evo with stock suspension. I've done it many times - don't be that guy (or girl)!!!

After you are ready to upgrade from the stock suspension, you have some great choices. I would read up on John Mueller and RobiSpec when the time comes.

I'm with Warrtalon on this, keep the stock MR suspension and learn the car for a bit before switching it out. Then if you decide that the stock suspension doesn't cut it, for whatever you're doing, then upgrade to the coil-overs. I have a brand new IX and I don't plan on swapping out my suspension till I wear it out

I waited a year before upgrading to coilovers. Learn to control the car first. I dont even think 2x every 4 months would be worth the 2.5k price tag of coilover. If you plan on doing 1x every month then upgrading would be worth it.
