Would anybody be up for an EVO vs. S2000 Competition?

that's in my tired, delapidated, broken-down old non-MR '03 with only one puny gear left in my floppy, flaccid gearbox. against a car with alot more grunt than an s2k.
4th is all you need, unless girlie-man here feels like takin it over 120 or so.
someone get on this and shut him up, will ya?

Guys i'll be the first to admit that the article on S2ki was rediculous, and is probably trying to bring some more attention to the forum. I own an s2k and am on the s2ki forum everyday. In no way can the two cars be compared, and in no way can anyone say that one is the clear favorite. In terms of performance, the Evo is built for it. No arguments about it, it is. Each car has it's purposes and different target markets. I for one have wanted an evo for a very long time and will probably get one after I sell my s2k. All of this mumbo jumbo about whose "better" or faster is just an example of how immature sports car owners have become. Who really cares? I like the evo, and I hope you all like the s2k. To each his own.

there is 1 thing the s2k might be CLOSE to the evo in, handling. That's it~ let this thread die now~ two different cars. Even though our four door ricer will beat the s2k in almost every aspect ^.^

Hi guys
I'm an S2k owner and member of S2ki. First off, I'm sure some of your members write dumb stuff too so you shouldn't get so worked up about one of ours doing the same... Granted, putting it on our front page might not have been the smartest idea.
I've got to say though that a lot of what I've read in this thread is uneducated BS. Some of you guys need to educate yourselves about the S a bit better. Our cars are fairly similar in performance though yours are much easier to drive fast and you also have the AWD advantage when it comes to drag racing. Your cars are indeed much easier to make power from mods on and in that sense I guess they are better if that's something you care about.
I don't remember all the issues that pissed me off over the days reading this thread while waiting for my membership to become active but I'll deal with the few that stick out in my mind.
Comparing an S2000 to a Miata in terms of performance is the dumbest thing I think I've ever read. They're both roadsters and they both handle well but similarities end there. The S is a high 13 second car whereas the Miata is a high 16 second car. Some of the newer ones are 15 second cars but that's still a huge difference. I'm sure the Miata coments were just intended to get a rise out of us but I figured I'd point this out just in case some of you really though the S and the Miata were in the same performance ballpark.
Someone a page or two ago talked about their encounter with a 350Z as if it proved somthing. I did the exact same thing with my S about three months ago. I waited for him to punch it then got on it and had the same results as you. I also used to own a Z, I dumped it for the S because I wasn't happy with it. In a staight line, It's a drivers race, the Z has a launch advantage for the untrained driver but other than that the S actually has a slight edge. On a circuit or autocross, the Z will get murdered, it simply can't carry the same speed into corners as the S can.
Finally, a lot of you seem to be of the opinion that the S is only good for atuoX and that you will murder it on a track. You couldn't be more wrong. Someone mentionned the scca, in the stock class there are as many records of S's stomping on you guys as the other way around. If you have any doubt about what an S can do on a racetrack, take a look at this: http://www.teamgt.it/varano04/360rossi.wmv I think that this should also help demonstrate that the S is indeed a capable sports car (some of you seem to think otherwise).
In the end, these are different cars for different folks but they are fairly evenly matched. The 70mph roll idea was some dumb ****; but I think what he was getting at was that if we take out your awd launch advantage, stock for stock we're pretty even. I expected to get stomped on the first time I raced an STI but it was fairly close. He had me by a good bumper by the time we hit 100 and I backed off. I've never raced an Evo but I assume the result would be about the same. Anyway, I digress... Point was different cars... yours are better at some things, ours others it's all personnal preference.

Mmm, all and any review I have ever read about an Evo said that no other car in this price range can touch it in performance. I have never read anything like that about an S-2000
Blah, I killed an S-2000 with my old 92 Talon for crying out loud

It's a bad thing that Mitsu didn't release the evo stateside with YAW control, or else the evo would be far superior than a S2K even in Autocross. Euro and Asia-Pacific evos have this and they can transfer the torque on the wheels from side to side. Unfortunately US evo's only have the ACD which can transfer the torque from front to rear.

Oh, how am i going to cart my 18 month old son around in a S-2000? How will i get to work in a snow storm? How will I get an insurance break becouse it's a '4 door'? How will I make an extra 100hp with 2k? How will I get a 10 YEAR warranty? How am I going to feel 290 lbs of torque lay me back in my seat? Why in the hell would anyone in their right mind choose a S-2000 over a Evo?
I will admit, I do not like Honda, as I think it's over priced junk. If Mazda can make a Miata for less than half the cost, what does that tell you
