My ? is there anything i should have checked before the car hit the streets again where working on tuning it for the break in miles.

update: sounds like there is lifter taping from what i was told . I let them know what to do about it. still havent got the car back yet.

A simple egt gauge would save a lot of engines keep it under 1600 degrees Fahrenheit and it will live longer .

Necro bump from 2006. Funny if you read this thread how the OP was saying that piston failure is common on a untuned, knocking, 50 psi boosted engine. Duh. Certainly not Mitsubishi's fault.

I dont understand why you dont get it tuned.....especially with how easy the stick ecu is to manipulate for boltons

Just wanted to mention that I blew a head gasket pretty bad a while back and had a piston look like that. I think pieces of head gasket messed mine up...

I inspected the cylinder walls and decided to leave the piston and you would never know it now. The car has been running great since put back together.
