I have been trying to find the definition of a law in new york, sec 375 sub 31. I got a ticket for it today with the ticket saying amplified muffler. Does anybody know what the law is and what I can do about it.

 

There isnt a DB Limit in New york like california. which makes any modified muffler or aftermarket exhaust to be illegal on the street or off-road use only. i've been to court twice with my 240sx. only thing u can do at this point is get a fake repair order saying, your muffler is fixed or your original exhaust has been installed back on.
yea, it really sux.. now i have a habit of putting the gear in neutral everytime i see a cop near by. it's really annoying.. i've sent you the text of the law by pm

 

VTL 375.31 = Inadequate or no muffler. Hope this help. Fight it. Sounds like BS.

Its funny u say that, i used to do the same thing, cops have nothing else to do but bother you for stupid S*** like a muffler. What about harley davidson motorcycles, now those really need to get tickets, every time they pass my block, all the alarms go on. This is a serious BS i say.
