Shifting to 4th grinds @ 5k on after tranny warms up

Ive searched yes but havent exaclty found my anwser. shifting from 3rd - 4th above 5k is grinding even if i push in the clutch for a couple seconds. Ive noticed it doesnt seem to to it right but once the tranny get up to normal temps it will do it everytime. I did change my tranny oil to see if that helped and it did not. I switched to amsoil i know everyone is going to say try syncromesh which i plan on doing, but im thinking there is somethign wrong with the syncro. None of the other gears are doing it and i hardly ever even drive shifting into 4th at a high rpm. Or im wondering if it may be the clutch not fully releasing stock clutch 03 14k miles i adjusted the pedal and it did not help. Either way I guess i should take it to the dealer ive noticed there are tsbs on some of the syncros

I just had the same problem. Not in any other gear, just going from 3rd to 4th and only above 5000 rpm. I sent my trans to Shepherd and got the normal upgrade (synchros, forks, seals,) and turned out I needed a new input shaft & reverse gear too. Wierd, never had a problem with reverse, but apparently the dude who I bought it from did. Anyway, he said 4th looked ok, just a little scored. I asked him replace it anyway. Trans shifts real smooth now. Its beautiful.

Before you go and do anything drastic: check your tranny fluid level. If it is low, this could cause the problem. Also, try using synchromesh, this might make the grinding stop altogether.
