Every new EVO owner should ask themselves this question?
Anyone who is supporting the fact that Mitsubishi is offering this Godly warranty is on the good stuff. I can gaurantee you my stock Accord is going to get better warranty service than an Evo even if the Evo's warranty looks better on paper. I have read more than enough horror stories about Mitsu dealers not honoring warranties on stock Evos... They'll just pull the race (as in driving too fast) card on you.
Also, to the people who are getting all defensive of this guy and telling us to not get worked up because he's simply expressing his opinion, please re-read his statement. He bashes vendors left and right without any facts to back up his statement.
Kind of reminds me of someone who wrote a bs article on S2Ki......

A really fun thing to do when bored is to go to a Mitsubishi dealership and state that your flux capacitor is broken. If things work out, then they’ll actually test drive the car and check it over and tell you that it’s broken because of abuse or after market parts.
For those of you who don’t know what a flux capacitor is, watch Back to the Future.

LOL I agree the Evo is an amazing car stock...but I traded in my '96 Eclipse turbo w/ 130K+ miles on it, stock bottom end, after market turbo, intercooler, TBE, injectors, boost cranked way up, S-AFC etc. etc. etc. all tuned by yours truly in my garage. My eclipse would pull on my Evo if it was bone stock to the point the Evo felt really sluggish in the acceleration department. I take my car on the track and I really appreciated the fact I was now using 5th gear on the two straights I used to just stay in 4th on before some tuning. I really appreciate the newly found pickup from eliminating the restrictive catalytic converter and letting it breath. If you do things smartly, you can modify your car without blowing it up...even in your garage...
Yes I did....Mitsubishi offered to re-paint my car for free due to paint issues(clearcoat).
I also had a long talk with the regional rep. from Mitsubishi about the EVO.
Im not sure where people get the "warranty void due to driving habits"
He stated that "as long as the car is stock, Mitsu will fix any mechanical issues".
I don't think he lied to me.
As a matter of fact, the Mitsu rep. was on site investigating a blown water pump on a brand new EVO MR, that was modded ...(intercooler, exhaust/manifold, plus other).
This was the 3rd time the owner had mechanical issues while his car was modified. Mitsu fixed the first 2.....
The owner went crazy after the regional rep. told him "no more" warranty claims
for this car, even though the water pump was replaced under warranty.
So when I read many stories under the "Mitsu sucks" category, I agree with what the Mitsu rep told me that "Sometimes I wish we never sold this car in the US".
Also, think about the resale value of your car after all the modifications you made for that "extra HP".

If he doesn't want to mod his car, that's fine. I don't know why he got an evo though. I guess it just reminds me of seing fat 40 year old women driving s2k's and 60 year old men driving corvette z06's. I think if you're getting a tuner car, you should maybe be a tuner and if not, stay away from playing the wannabe parent role on a forum that you know doesn't really care about what grandpa has to say about it. I think that maybe he would have been better off getting an altima se r or something. I don't know, I guess I can't talk too much crap, he has some good taste though, afterall he did buy an evo. Better an evo than a freaking mustang or something.
I hope I didn't offend anyone.

I'm one of the slowest
I did not buy the EVO for the engine, there are other points which make me feel that EVO is a great car.
The handling is awesome, brakes are strong, etc...
To be honest, when I first tried the car, I did not feel the power amazing (some of you will say that it's because it's stock
...of course!)
I have to admit that the more I think of my car, the more I want to mod it. It seems so easy and not so expensive.
So, I do not think the question "should we mod our car?" is so irrelevant.
