Eventhough FMIC's have been discussed alot.
I still haven't made a decision as to what FMIC I will purchase.

Threads like this can sometimes be helpful to some of us.
Boosted GP congrats on your new AMS FMIC.

I would be interested to know how it all works out in the end.

We don't use precision cores.

If I am not mistaken, I think precision uses garrett cores

Hey,

I'll be doing a big write up for all you guys. I'm going to be fitting the following

10.5 hotside
Works O2 housing
Works TBE
Works 269 cams, Springs and retainers
Works Flash (P2e)
Works BOV
AMS cooler
Nisei intercooler pipes and mini battery kit
Ralliart thermostat
Psi3 Single DIN data monitor (similar to the EcuTek one)
Defi boost, oil press and temp sensors (to go with the Psi3)
O2 fix (mechanical)
Walbro 255 pump
GReddy Oil catch can
Goodridge S/S brake hoses
Ferodo DS2500 pads (all round)
Forge front engine mount
Radiator cover
UK EVOLUTION VIII rear badge

Think thats about all on the install for the moment

Oh, what sort of power do you guys reckon I'll be running on the above mods? all on an '05 evo 8 (260hp)

going to be running 100LL Avgas (believe its about 100 octane (R+M/2) as race fuel here is only 94 (R+M/2)

Boost will be what ever the P2e sets it at (thinks its 21psi)

thanks
Mike

I've always wondered if there really is any power difference between name brand intercoolers like the AMS & HKS versus the el cheapo ebay fmic's. Somehow I doubt there is any power difference at all.

Thanks

race inter or just normal one
just the normal one, didn't think my mods would need the race.. maybe even the normal one isn't needed, but I live at high altitude (6000ft) so the ambient air is thinner so less cooling and it can get hot here in summer (80-95 deg F on most days) so i did it partly "just because" and partly to be on the safe side

The race core is thicker, longer, has 3" in/out as opposed to 2.5". It is made to be more beneficial over 650 whp. The downfall is that it is quite large and does require removal of the crash bar and fairly significant cutting of the bumper (we haven't even tried one with the Evo IX bumper yet). It is also made to accompany the 3" intercooler piping which is only designed to fit with turbo kits and aftermarket intake manifolds. Being said that, the standard upgrade is much more suited for someone with anything smaller than a GT35R kit and stock intake manifold.
