Last time I checked wasn't the turbo between the 05 evo 8's and the 9's exactly the same? Oh yeah they are!! They both have a 10.5 hotside.

Yeah, the hotsides are the same, but not the cold side. The hotside is only one half of it. The IX's compressor housing is larger.

Man this thread got strange. Skilmatic everytime I read your posts I get the feeling you have some type of mental disability. You go from trying to argue with everyone, to being able to see that if you keep up your retarded behaviour you will lose whatever is left of your reputation here and then you START TYPING LIKE THIS. WARRALTON IS GOD. DO NOT ARGUE. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

Finally you complete your 174 degree turn and ask everyone to get along. I love EvoM but there are some real characters on this forum lol...

If the IX is just as fast as the VIII then it's not much of an evolution.....I only read the first page.

once you swap both 8's and 9's to the same size larger turbo they make nearly IDENTICLE horsepower and torque.

We get mega torque from boost, not from MIVEC.

Also, why do you keep saying this is with just a flash - you've said it several times. This is a flash in addition to other mods, such as a full exhaust.

that is my dyno readings after shiv worked with my car. i am the one who started this thread and i am amazed by the replies. unfortunately this is not the feedback i was hoping to get, i never meant for this to be an evo ix vs viii forum. i just simply wanted to know what evo ix owners out there with simple bolt ons were running in there 1/4 mile times and what their setup is and what the power and torque readings were for their setup. if all the evo viii owners think i started this to show off ix's, they are wrong. i said simply i feel bad that the eights dont have mivec. because i have had an 8 and for the same mods ive done to the ix versus my old viii i have noticed a difference, that is all. let's all just get along.

Everything else is farmed out to other turbo manufacturers.
So you are saying every Mitsubishi turbo, and all 16G's, which have been around for over 20 years, are just copies of Garrett technology? Or maybe just a design the Japanese "borrowed" years ago and have since R&D'd into something all their own?

MHI has extensive fabrication abilities, the ability to produce things from raw materials (not just assemble them). While I do not doubt that it is possible for them to outsource or buy parts from other manufacturers, I am just curious to see more on what you are claiming because it goes against what I have understood to be true. Mitsubishi and Garrett have been the two biggest OEM suppliers of turbos for years and are way bigger then IHI or KKK, Hitachi or any of the other small timers.

Nah, there was nothing wrong with your post other than the fact you already posted this elsewhere then reposted by quoting numbers without giving details. Your boost was raised SIGNIFICANTLY, and your before-torque was terribly low. So, claiming a 50whp and 80wtq is very, very misleading. If your before-torque wasn't 30 lower than normal, then your torque gain would have been much more normal. Likewise, had you not also had a huge 4psi raise in boost, then none of those big power gains would have been seen. Hell, look at the tune. Your new tune goes down below the 10 AFR and is very uneven. It looks similar to a stock tune that starts off lean then drops off a cliff. Also, running 23psi on 91oct is pretty scary. I couldn't run more than 21psi in the summer on 93oct.

I just find it so funny why you guys base which car is better than which by simply dragging it. When they see the drag strip, their adrenaline rushes up, but when they see a chicane, they panic. Look, and Evo was made for total performance and not just to go straight, that why Mitsu had equiped it with Bilsteins, ACD, and SAYC. Just how we do it here, we bring them to the track, well drag is included but it is not 50% of the criteria. Do it like how SCC does it. They use the circuit.

We also race them on the road course, but it's a lot easier to use drag strip comparisons for differences in power. Road racing won't tell us anything unless the same person drives multiple cars to their limit unabated around a road course and gets lap times. You can't compare 2 drivers in 2 cars. I often lap people in "faster" cars.

maybe it's just because the MIVEC was always the talked about IX change and some people didn't know about the larger compressor that these assumptions are met. i'm sure the MIVEC does provide better low-end torque and driveability with a smoother powerband, but i'd have to say that the turbo is what makes the top-end power difference. maybe the people that rushed out to trade in their VIII on a IX and took a loss are just trying to justify that expense when they could've bought a turbo and been tuned for much less. i was thinking it when the IX talk began but held back until i could research it more, and i'm happy with the decision to keep the VIII. but to each his own, i'm not going to hate on the IX owners because i definitely prefer them cosmetically(except for the hollow, not-full CF wing). can't we all just get along? do you think this went on between evo VI and VII owners in japan? ha, ha!

i dont think the nine and th e8 has a difference etiher and the MR and the Regular Nine has a difference either.i heard the quarter mile on both of them are 2 ft difference... so if your a dumbass like me that spend 8grand more for just that 6th speed... its sorta useless unless your going to be collecting your car. other then that i believe my car is really unsanitary.

other hand anyone can help me out on buying something good? im getting a free intake setup from Fujita. should i? or should i not?
