I recently bought a Tarmac Black IX, and the thing is amazing. I have had Shiv do a reflash with a Perrin tbe system, Apexi intake, and a free flow cat. It gained 50 whp and 80 lbs of torque. On the streets I feel bad for any evo without mivec, but I was wondering what some of you guys with IX's 1/4 mile times were with just basic bolt ons and what the set-up is and what the whp/wtq is?

 

Mivec is not all that the turbo is the real power difference. You need to get off your high horse.

 

Yeah it's not just the MIVEC, and you can find times in the drag racing section, just search around. The times are really good in most cases, and records have been broken.

 

I smell more IX jealousy.

For a stock car, right off the lot, theres not much to compare a IX against (atleast for less than 40k). Comparing it to a modded car is apples to oranges.

 

last time I checked 8s with IX turbos were making the same power.

+1, 90-95% of the power over the VIII is due to the new turbo

If can launch well and shift fast it should be a low 12 second car, but still slow on the topend. You'll be lucky to trap 110mph with that setup. My EVO is by far the slowest car out of all of my friends: Z06, 2 10 second Fbods, 1 11 sec Cobra, and a high 11 second 240 with Sr20 swap.

Give me a break, jealousy of a car its just people that think that the IX are all that. if you mod a VIII and IX the pretty much goin to make the same power. At least we are not limted to power making mods. No AEM, NO XEDE, Cams are expensive as hell etc.
