yes i know exactly what a cat is for, i know it's to prevent certain chemicals from releasing, but i've seen vehicles without a cat and they still passed emissions, i was curious to know how the evo would do. My main question is this, if i purchase the megan TBE exhaust, is the test pipe exactly the same length and size as the stock cat? meaning could you use the megan DP, the stock cat, and the meagan cat back? i'd rather use the test pipe like everyone else, but i just wanted to know just incase i ever had to put the cat back on for other reasons.

Yes, you can unbolt the test pipe, then slap in the stock cat with the Megan.

Your car is NOT going to pass emissions testing without a cat, unless the people running the test are smoking crack.

HAHAHA, thank you, so basically what you're saying is, if i do pass emission with a test pipe, i should ask the tester where he got his good azz crack from? hahahahah, mmm mmm, hahahaha.

People have started passing emissions tests in VA with a test pipe, because they have gone to a code reader and visual cat check. Sometimes, they don't remember to do the cat check or they do the check and get fooled by the resonated test pipe. The sniffer portion is completely gone.

Holy crap, wish it was that easy in MD. I just have my address located in different portion of the state where they don't do emission testing...hehe...otherwise it would be a complete pain in the ***.

You should call the DMV and get a brochure on what kind of tests are included on the test. Like warrtalon said, if the test includes a "sniifer" test, where they measure the chemical composition of the exhaust stream, running a test pipe would surely fail. However if the test is a crackhead test (visual and ecu check) then you might be able to get away with it. Hooray for crackheads!
