Someone should move this to the Southwest forum for him so, he gets people form that area looking at it.

It sounds like you have a fair bit of mechanical ability. If I were you I would pull the center console back out and make sure there was nothing obvious and easy to fix before taking it to the dealer. Especially since you modified the shifter linkage and they might not warranty it which they have every right not to.

If you had any idea how the transmission works, you wouldn't be posting this problem about your shift linkage on this forum. Why would you post a problem about unable being to shift probably and neglect to mention that you had installed a short shifter? Sorry for be so crude but that is just ignorant.

maybe you should read my posts more thoroughly .. I did post about the B&M.. I didnt post it in the first post but I did post it right after that... Maybe before you reply to a post you could try and read the whole thread... I was able to diagnose the problem this morning... I woke up early and started ripping into things... So maybe I am not as un-mechanically enclined as you think... Anyway since I did fix the problem this thread is officially over and I will not be posting here anymore..

Thank you to everyone who posted something that was not derogatory... I appreciate everyone that tried to offer good advice...

thanks again

You don't have to hack your stock shifter. Only if your cheap.

If your not cheap, you just buy the retaining cup for 15$ and DON'T have to destory your stock shifter.
