I drove my first 2003 today
I drove a stock 2003 in rally red with 35k on the odometer. I drove the car and I may have not put it in 2nd hard enough but it definately popped out, also it seems as if the car does not like to be in 2nd gear unless your doing about 30mph. I overall liked the car however the lag SUCKS, maybe because I had just driven an STi a couple days earlier, the power delivery on the STi was much smoother and spot on but the EVO has go-kart handling wich I like. It just seemed as if I had to work hard to get the power out of the EVO, I couldn't tell if anything was wrong with the clutch but I am assuming it was the stocker because it wasn't very grabby. I was a little dissapointed however, maybe because the STi seems as if it's got more power because it is more linear... instead of lag lag lag WHAP! I love the look and still have the soft spot in my heart for the EVO, probobly will still buy one however maybe part of the issue was the douche bag snobby Mercedes Benz salesman in the back seat thinking I was beating on it because it was fast. I have driven two evo's before and about 6 STi's... the nerves may have kept me from really relazing and just driving it I guess.

Having owned both, I just came from a slightly modded 04 STI, which I drove since new. Now a proud owner of a IX. I can agree with you on the Linear power is great on the STI. Both cars are awesome! Cannot go wrong either way. I would say pick your car based off of looks , , speed, handling, etc... I am happy to have the IX now, differnet beast, with alot more power possibilies in mods for the money. Good luck

those STi's sure are sweet, I would go with one of them.

Ok dissing on the guys car? If so then thats ****en lame. I was nervous with the salesman in the back because I couldnt drive the car how I wanted to, to actually get the feel, ignorant Mercedes Benz salesman would probobly freak out and **** himself if I drove the EVO how it should be driven to really compare.
drive an 05 or 06 evo instead that used 03, who knows what it went through.
all i can say about the sti (since my dad owns an 05) is that it feels more bulky, less responsive, and the shifter feels too lose for me since im used to my RS's 5 speed, but still a great car, i was in the same dilemma before i bought my evo, evo or sti, evo or sti...
get the car which you like best.

He likes the STi best, now leave him alone. If he gets the Evo, we'll be inundated with 100 threads a day.
Notice that he is _STILL_ a Newbie yet has started _45_ threads with a total of 78 posts. More threads started than posts contributed. By contrast, I have only started 79 threads in over 8000 posts, and more than 10 of those were just Dynoflash tuning trips that I posted for Al. It will only get worse if he actually gets an Evo.

I hope you have made as many new threads on the Subi site, given you like it so much.
