are the '06 IX's still breaking their trannies?

Sorry, new here, and trying to decide whether to buy an IX or another sti.
I remember the 03 and 04 transmissions were breaking first & second gears pretty regularly, even at stock power.
Have they fixed that by now, or is it still a problem?
Thanks
:flamesuit on for not searching for 2 hours:

^Lol
:needs to meet some Sti b1tches:
Ok, I had read that the 5 speed had skinny little 1, 2 gears, and that the 6 speed had fat 1, 2 gears but after that he tall gears got real weak.
So much contradicting info...

i dont think anyone really broke the gears in the earlier trannies it was more like they had shifting/ syncro problems...its not like the second gear in a wrx that would just explode if you pushed it at all

I've never heard of 03/04 trannies breaking gears.
I've never heard of the Evo 5spd having skinny gears.
I've never heard of the Evo 6spd having fat gears. Quite the opposite...the 5spd has beefier gears, and the 6spd has to fit more gears into the same space.
I don't know where you read this stuff, but you were fed some misinformation. Good thing you asked, although you would have found this info from 2 hours of searching like you said you didn't do.

The 03's had issues with 5th gear synchro's going out, like stated. That's about it.
There were initial reports of clutches going out pretty often as well with the 03's, but that's because some of the initial owners (not me) were during 6-7k clutch dumps.
No trans probs to speak of really. IX is solid as well.
