Low oil level at 1000 mi

I got my IX MR about a month back, and due to less than ideal weather, it's been sitting in the garage a lot, hence only 1000 miles on the odometer (and the drive home from South Coast was 600 miles of it).

Up to about 700 miles, the oil dipstick level was right in the middle of the high and low markers. That was when I stopped babying it and started to get the revs up to 6.5k. Since then, I'm at 993 miles and noticed that the oil has gone done to the low level marker on the dipstick. I'm not leaking any oil since my garage floor is free of grease, so I'm guessing I burned it with the high revs. But I baby it most of the time since I'm paranoid about cops being around. Does that sound right? Anyone else experience this?

I was planning on just changing the oil @ 3k miles, but now, I'm not sure if I should just add some oil to keep it at safe levels or do an oil change. I know the various opinions on break-in methods and I chose to just follow the manual, but I don't want to run on low oil. Any opinions?

I have a IX as well and i haven't had that problem yet but i think it says in your owner's manual that the car consume oil, i changed my oil at 800 and never had a problem since. I think it's normal unless other people has other opinion.

Its normal to burn some oil during break in. I had burned up about 2/3 of a quart in about 2500 miles and changed it then. I have about 4200 miles and it hasn't burned any oil since, and no, I don't baby it.

Anything up to a quart every 1k miles is considered normal.

Just top it up until your next oil change, but DO NOT OVERFILL

Thanks for the reassurance guys. I'm paranoid about my Evo. But I'm sure I'll get over it after having it for several more months.

No problems for me.
