My non-harness bar in-car camera mount (pics)

People asked for pics, so here's a few. This worked great for drag vids, but not so good for auto-x - it makes you dizzy from that angle with the cam zoomed to just past the dash. For road racing, this should work great until I get a harness bar.

And a bonus pic of my garage, haha:

I've already posted it, but this is the only vid I've uploaded so far:

Not a bad idea / setup.

Have you tried it on any of the other child seat catches?

Got a parts list?

No, I didn't try it on the others, since they aren't centered. I'm sure it would work, though.

The only part there is the clamp mount from ChaseCam.com...then my camera, but the mounting point is universal.

Nice video there guy. At first I thought maybe it would be to rearward in the car but it shows what it needs to show.

Not to mention that is some hefty shifting! I have yet to do that to my baby.

I don't understand, whats a harness bar?
Did you have to buy any thing else to make your current mount work.

THis is a harness bar, and is the exact one I plan to use - GSC's my boys:

Project Evo: GSC Harness Bar Review

No, I didn't have to buy anything besides the clamp mount itself. I clamped it right to the latch in the center of the rear deck.

OMG, I knew what a harness bar was, "brain fart"

Thanks for the info, I just ordered the clamp for my camera, I hope they allow it at the New England Drag Way.

I should just use the remote, but I haven't practiced with it enough to KNOW that it works. I can't really see any indicators from the driver's seat, so I wasn't risking it, but in the future, I plan to use the remote.

I would run a tether on the camera too. I run mine from the camera strap to the passenger side tether. I use an old camera shoulder strap as a tether. You could also get a wide angle lens from Best Buy (about $40) that will widen the view in your car. They come with several adaptors to fit different lens sizes.

My camera mount (Home Depot custom spec) is in the same place as yours, but sits under the child tether bracket so I can leave the mount in when putting my son in the car.

Where'd you get that? Are you ever worried the suction cups will give and the camera will fall and break?

Yeah, I need that same extension, so I can use more mount points inside.

Talon, the suction cup mounts are used pretty frequently - they hold well.

Would the suction cup deal pass NASA tech-spec?

They made me take my radar detector out of my car even though it was velcroed to the dash... but they let me keep my G-Tech in the car.
