I did get the look when I in the states but I don't know why - I'm friggin 29 years old...I'm sometimes surprised at some of the younger guys and girls at owning an EVO because they aren't cheap....
My only conclusion is that I've got to get a better job because the job I've got ain't cuttin it
The kids these days seem to be a lot more successful.....

From what I can tell there are only two gals in STL that drive Evos, so I get alot of stares from all types of folks, esp. since I'm a very conservative 40 yr old that works behind a computer all day long. Once everyone got over the fact I drive an Evo, I seem to have become the "cool" person to talk to about everyones HP upgrades and Mods on their cars.
One thing I have here at work is the well known " Rally Car parking" in the garage. My MR, 2 Sti's and 2 rex's huddle for protection

For me, people are just suprised that I can afford it on my own. I am young but yet I own a 30 thousand dollar car and mommy and daddy didn't buy it for me. Some people actually think I deal drugs hahahaha.
I'm an Executive Director for a Finance Risk Assessment Software company and those that know me professionally are shocked, thoughs that know me personally know I can't shut up about track season.
2 weeks ago my CEO flew his G5 into town and when I picked him up, I explained I use wings to decrease lift and he was entertained... Then came the priceless moment... I hit the onramp after exiting the airport feathering the throttle, picked up my phone, pretended to ask the control tower if we're cleared for lift off and launched it.
was the look on his face at that point.

It's more the center of many jokes... actual (full) title is...
Executive Director of Strategic Relationships and National Accounts.
It was NOT easy fitting that on the biz card.
Out of work... I'm just a guy driving an Evo

Haven't read the other stories...but my story is, people are surprised I have an Evo only because I own 2 other cars as well. Everyone knew me to be the one with the modded, hot GS-T which I've had for over 6yrs. So when I got the Evo, everyone started assuming and asking me why I got rid of the Eclipse. When I tell them that I still have it, AND still have my "going to work" vehicle -- 99' Acura CL, they are shocked! I own my own home(3bd/2bth/2car garage)and just had my 2nd child a couple weeks ago. Not bragging, but explaining why people are surprised. I don't make a hell of alot of money, and my girl is outta work now(taking care of baby), but I just know how to budget properly I guess. I'm not struggling so far. I've only had the Evo for about 3 months.
I know I'm fortunate to have what I have, and Thank God for it. I have these things, plus still have the opportunity to go out with my boys, drink, movies, dinners, and so far, handle these gas prices! lol!
Well, that's the reason people are surprised that I got an Evo.

All my family was surprised, I came from an '02 Dodge Ram Quad cab running a lawn service out of it to pay for college.
But the person who is surprised the most is me. Back in '91-'92 when I was in highschool my mom had a turbo'd supra (i think it was a '91) and she got rid of it before I could drive it.
At work I find every opportunity to look out the window at it and at home I make excuses to go outside just to look at it there too.
Its growing on the wife.
