Unique Build...

well a bunch of my friends are honda builders, have had success with many high compression forced induction honda's... well my buddy is looking to build his motor and hes thinking about letting them do it...

nothing is rock solid but the plans are looking like this so far :

2.0 with 10:1CR
GT30R
with supporting mods.

they hope to make 500hp on about 20psi on race gas...
low 400's on pump gas around 14 psi or something.

just curious if anyone on here has built a high compression turbo motor for an evo or a dsm or something.

if there were any, they were NA DSM's from birth. factory turbo cars don't have anything usually over 9:1 compression. evos are 8.8:1 iirc...

Alot of the new cars running direct injection are doing it I would try 9.5 to 1 10-1 might be to high to run on pump gas.

make your power with more boost, no need to higher compression. In my old integra I did 600+hp on 9:1 compression. higher compression boosted motors are prone to detonate easier in high heat.

ya well the guy doesnt care to boost a huge amount, he is looking for response, and a certain amount of power **400-500** so they are building it to get that.

therefor they dont need lower compression for future mods, and higher compression does make it easier for detonation, BUT with the correct tuning you can avoid that, and reach his goals with insane spool characteristics!!

chances are its going to be somewhere between 9-10 on the compression like i said, but the parts havent been ordered yet.

Top_End your integra had very good spool with 9:1 compared to lower compression huh... that is the reason he is going to build it with higher, and he isnt worried about going that much over 500hp, so its very reachable.

ya how many dsm people with 2.0 motors are getting that kind of spool with that size turbo? no one. because honda heads flow better, BUT ALSO cause you were running higher compression, that is a big factor!!

i am really excited for this happen, i know some of the big boy dsm and evo guys had to have some experience with trying higher compression wish would of them would chime in and give some feedback!!

otherwise by the end of summer hopefully its all done and get a couple track visits in...

2.0L 9:1 to 10:1 Compression ratio
GT30R

whats the highest compression you guys have ran lets keep this thread going until i can hear from someone who has experience with this!!

im sorry thats typo... full spool was at 5500 rpm.... i wouldn't say 9:1 is high compression.

Talk to Marco @ www.MagnusMotorsports.com He likes to build 4g63's with higher compression, but as someone has stated below the tuning has to be right on....

You are aiming at a very small target zone. I assume you have the cash to buy new pistons when it pings its *** off =)
