resonators and performance

just wondering guys..does having resonators on your your TBE reduce performance? i was thinking about it and all the resonator does is create mild turbulance to reduce sound correct? so i understand it can reduce some performance? but is it that drastic?

I could be completely wrong here but I thought resonators had something to do with not only making them a little quieter but tuning the exhaust to allow the sound waves going back to the valves to help pull out exhaust gasses. I know this is something that is engineered from the factory on most cars. Someone that knows for sure though, let me know if i'm wrong about resonators.

do resonators impede the air flow? probably a little. is it worth worrying about? no.

yeah, you would probably lose just a little power, but I doubt you'd notice. If it's less of a headache noise that you want, it's probably well worth it.

Theres no power loss, all it does is resonate the exhaust to reduce the noise inside the car, the resonator is hollow inside

I dont see how u would lose much if any power with a resonator. There are no restrictions inside, its just straight thru

Depends. Some resonators do not impact the overall inside diameter of the piping. Such a resonator should not affect performance too much, if any.
On the other hand there are resonators that cut into the inside diameter of the piping. Such resonators would rob power.

The resonator is a perforated straigt piece of pipe, just like a straight through exhaust is, enveloped by a chamber full of sound deadening material. The exhaust gas doesn't flow through the perforations per se. It will create more turbulence and back pressure. Not a lot, maybe 3 hp worth? Get the exhaust that sounds good, and make up the lost hp somewhere else.

not enough to notice that you have or don't have them in your exhaust
