Raped on tag and registration

I feel as though I have just been tag teamed by the worlds largest dicks. I am posting this to gauge whether or not I was screwed or not by the county seat in my area. I recently bought a car, from out of state, and just registered it and got the tag. I paid 1060 for a 2003 !! Does this sound normal, or did I just take it in the pooper? I am from MS and I paid 22,xxx for the car, if that helps

I'm going to take a wild guess and say that a good percentage of that fee is sales tax. I'm assuming that you didn't pay tax to the state in which you bought the car. I could be wrong, though, but that's the only thing I can think of.

1060 just for the tag?? seems kinda high to me or i might be missing something. I'm not sure how it goes when you buy a car out of state. But, so you can compare, I bought my IX MR new in december 2005 and I paid around 600 just for the tag. O i'm from mississippi too. (on the gulf coast)

Sorry about that. It was for the tax, tag, and registration. You will always have to pay tax if bought from a private party out of state since you didn't do it in the state it was purchased from, at least that is my understanding. My butthole still hurts The people at the county seat said it would only be like 280-310 next year.

In cali, the tax is 8.25%, so multiply that by $22k comes out to a grand total of $1815 just for the sales tax.
