Cars that are lemon lawed CAN NOT be resold to the general public. Usually these are put into durability fleets and flogged. Chrysler was almost kicked out of the California market for reselling lemon law vehicles. I think the fine was close to 100 million. By the way my MR IX seems to have none of these problems except for the undercoating they laid on in Long Beach (my guess) since they wouldn't lay on undercoating like that in a factory.

I have the notorious rattle behind the speedometer!! Plus, I have a couple other rattles in the dash itself.

Taking it to the dealer so far hasn't been good. My carpet on the passenger side got flooded the 2nd week I owned the car due to a spot not being sealed (that's what they told me.) I've been waiting about a month and a half for the someone to call me about the carpet. They are "supposed" to address the rattles when they fix my carpet.
Plus, my brakes squeek a lot. Is that normal??

Rattling Noise

Yeah I had the exact rattling noise coming from behind my dash only when I went over 40mph. But I have an 05 MR. Took it back to the dealership and they said 'it should be a quick easy fix.' Four hours went by and I called them back. They said they need the car overnight to do more investigation. I read some forums where some of the dealership took the A-piller off from the outside, put double sticky 3M tape on it and the noise went away. I told them that, but I didn't think they did anything. I told the dealership I had to work in the morning. Took it back to my garage, used some 3M double sided tape. There is a plastic cover on the bottom corner of the windshield that overlaps the A-Piller on each side of the window. I put some tape under the plastic shroud, all noises went away. Took me 5 minutes where as the dealership didn't find nothing!

i must be lucky with my evo,s, never had a problem with my 03 that eveyone complained about and not a single problem with my IX(4500 miles).NO rattles, squeaks, hard shifting, or anything else to complain about. At least not yet and hopefully not at all.

Well this morning when I went into reverse I heard a thud or clunk when changing gears. Unfortunatly time constraints dont let me go to the dealer as I really want to, though I hope they find something or give me a new one. This is ridiculous.

On an asthetic note the silver pipe that can be seen in a vertical position behind the grill seems like it was polished and run through asphalt, not smooth like the other one was on my prev 06.

Like I said I'm not new to evos and I always read of these probs but was fortunate not to have the severe probs. Now it seems I might

PS

brake squeak LOUD to non is normal.

Difficulty in sometmes closing the trunk is norm poss due to the lighter trunk and spoiler.

rattles seem to be norm but reeeeallly annoying

ya I was thinking that. I just wanted to see if I could fix some of the probs myself.

We all have this. It's an undercoating spray that they apply in Long Beach when the cars get off the boat... or so I've been told. It's supposed to help with sound deadening. They applied too much to my IX and when I'm out for a spirited run and I heat things up nicely, the tar substance will drip. It's nasty and makes a mess on the ground and it also made a mess of my muffler becaue the stuff dripped all over it.

There is nothing you can do about it either.
