GSR vs MR (Not a repeat I promise)

I am going to get my Evo IX pretty soon and I am having trouble deciding weather I should get the MR or not.
Here's the thing, I do plan on changing out the rims almost for sure, and at the same time, I DON'T think I am going to be changing the suspension at all.....
So the question is, should I get the MR and just swap off the rims, or should I get the GSR and get a new suspension, vortex generator, lose the 6spd?

I don't think I will be going to the track all the often as I am not a super experienced driver, and havent done much tracking, maybe after a while of having the car (1-2 years).
Any opinions are greatly appreciated!

Well if you are not going to mod it much then get the MR. Do you care about sun roof? MR doesnt come with one.

I have a sunroof in my car now... but I only use it when scumbags smoke in my car so that **** doesnt stay in the car. It would be nice, but no I don't care all that much.

Since it seems to me that you have no SOLID plans for the car (other than new shoes), I would recommend test driving both, seeing which one you like more and then considering if the price difference is worth it.

Personally, I'd say go with GSR.

I got a graphite grey IX (lovely color). Used to be MR exclusive color but not anymore =P. I did somethings to my personal satisfaction.

I sold the IX enkeis/tires and bought MR bbs/tires. The turn around was only $400 . Then I got ksport full coilovers for $775. Stock suspension can be sold for $200+. Then got a nearly new GG vortexgenator for $100. Bought a new hid kit for $240. Lights up very well and bright.

The car looks and handles great. Those changes cost me like $1,200 so the rest of my money can go into motor and etc.

So in the end, the only thing you lost was the 6spd?

No, don't mistake a set of K-sport coilovers for being equivalent to the MR's Bilsteins. His GSR also doesn't have the aluminum roof, MR package, nor Zero Lift Kit, but upgrading to the rims for only $400 was very nice.

NaorisG, I don't see you having any reason to get an MR, and yes, this is definitely a repeat. People have been asking this exact question for 18 months...

Sorry
I have seen plenty of posts on this I just felt like mine wasnt about the "differences" between the GSR and the MR, it was more about what everyone thinks would suit me better and what would be worth more of my time.

Tons of those, too. No one here can tell you what's best for you. You should be answering that question yourself. I already think any Evo that isn't raced is a waste to begin with, so I don't think an MR would be worth your time. Get a base GSR and use the extra cash on something else.

+1 has been discussed ive seen it. anyways it all depends on if spending the extra money is worth it to you is the 6spd and bilsteins worth the extra money. you could always sell the bbs rims to offset probably half of whatever rims you are going to get if you do want the mr.

How about this, which one is faster? which one handles better? Answer that and you have your choice.

Ugh... Any difference is negligible.

I chose the GSR over the MR because of the price. IMO the differences between the two didn't justify the cost premium. But that's just me. I added some rims and will be adding some coilovers soon. I miss the HID's, but they aren't really that big an issue for me. The six speed would be nice too, but I added a 45% B&M short throw to my 5 speed. You can't do that to the six speed yet.

What it comes down to is preference. If you have the money and don't plan on modding too much, get the MR. If you want to customize it more to your liking, get the GSR.

Remember some road tests have shown that the MR's softer bilsteins actually hurt its performance in the corners. Not by a huge amount at all....but still...
