Quote: Ok you are retarded. It may have the same 4.6 Dohc Motor but the cobra has all forged internals unlike the mach 1. 6 speed cobra compared to 5 speed mach 1. And 325 at the crank in the mach 1 compared to 425 on the dyno to a cobra.
Where on earth did you get this info from??? You are WAAAAAAY off on your stats. Im not sure about the internals being forged, but the #s are off by a long shot. The cobra(03-04) is rated at 390hp@ the crank. The mach 1 is rated at 305hp@ the crank. Ive driven then raced a mach 1 in my 03 evo(with a tbe/mbc) and there wasnt even hope for him. Then we switched cars and the outcome was the same.

you guys need to get your facts striaght Do the research instead of guessing your answers. this is why this forums HATES newbies, cause there lazy.

heres what i know bout them.

The 99 cobra and the mach one have a simliar motor and head, i beilive the intake manifold was different. Then you have the GTs, Which Pre 2000 were the crappy head. The 2001s came with the PI head, and plastic intake manifold. (I know this because me and a buddy blew up his intake manifold when we sprayed a 150 shot on it. Too cold the intake manifold shattered)

The Bullits came with a metal intake manifold. and the same Crappy 2v modular motor offered in the GTs.

The "Old cobra still was a 32 valve V8. and the compressiion, rods and pistons were different from the o4 cobras ( Supercharged)

im pretty sure thats right on correct me if wrong

I've seen plenty of Mach 1 timeslips, and unsurprisingly there are a bunch that can't even break into the 13's at the track, but there are also some decent drivers that are capable of low low 13's with slicks. I haven't seen Mach 1's get into the 12's without some mods and slicks, so take that for what it's worth. They are trapping higher than an Evo though, so if you mess up your launch you will be toast.

This thread should die until they both go to a track and settle this. Bench racing doesn't prove anything.

[QUOTE=SKILMATIC]Actually you had a different engine. The mustang GT's came with a 2 or 3valve per cylinder I beleive. And the mach 1 came with the cobra engine. The only similarity is the displacement. The blocks are different. The cobra and mach 1 engine are identical because the mach 1 uses the cobra block which is cast iron whereas the mustang GT is aluminum. The cobra engine is also a 4valve per cylinder head design.

Some cobras came with the 5.4L.[/QUOTE
Yes the GT had 2 valves per cylinder. By the same engine I meant same size, displacement. I am aware that there are differences.

The mach 1 and 97-2002 cobras use the aluminum block, whereas the 2003-2004 cobra use the cast iron block which the 99-04 mustang gt's use a cast iron block also.

No personal experiences with the Mach 1 but I've read about them being dissapointing. And I think I saw something a long time ago on Car and Driver TV about them. As for GTs, now they dont stand a chance. I've smoked more than I can count with my untuned TBE only 8.
