What does the wife drive? "Buy her" the GT3, let her keep her Escalade, or whatever she drives as well and you keep your Evo. Total 3 cars, wife gets 2 and you get to drive all 3 anyway.

Also may I mention that the mere fact that somebody would consider an EVO over a GT3 makes me love the EVO more and more.

what about the new Z06? or wait until the nissan GTR, NSX v10 or the supra replacement to come out.

between the evo and gt3, i would take the gt3 if money was no object.

I think we understand the situation for the most part....

Man Loves Evo.....Wife hates Evo....Wife says Evo goes.....Man Sad.....Man wants to keep Wife happy (nice man)......Wife wants to keep Man happy with GT3 ('freakin awesome wife )....Man comes to Evom (still Sad) to tell story....Evom says "What's the problem, it's a GT3 you'll be just fine!".....Man still Sad, but will do the right thing because values his wife more than a car (may be a tough concept for some to grasp)

Maybe the GT3 is not the solution; maybe something more sedate......

So true I was also thinking about the M5 but it just not seem like a good car to track. Don't get me wrong, I love the new GT3 it just seems like a bit "much" but maybe in white it will blend in a little better. Thought about a Z06 too, but the GT3 looks so much better and the wife really loves the GT3 (she had 911 posters in her room in high school ), I am not sure she would be down with a 100k on any other car.

I dont' get it...if you can afford the GT3 you could probably afford to keep the evo right? I don't know just throwing it out there, good luck with whatever happens, but the Bushur buildup you are planning should be nice

I can keep the Evo and not get the GT3 but am I being insane for not wanting the GT3?

GET THE GT3 and sell me your EVO

The sad part here is...people are advising you to get the GT3 simply because it's a better car. While this is true, it obviously isn't the correct choice. Why? Because your heart isn't in it. Tell your wife to get over herself. If she wants a GT3, she can buy one herself. Mmmkay.

She's obviously not into it for the rush, performance, fun of it. She's into it for the surface layer (read: shallow). Who gives a flying fark what it looks like. I, personally, LIKE the way Evos look. Hell, I like SRT-4's. But I've always been an all go, no show kinda guy. I like to keep things simple and all business.

It sounds to me like you LOVE your Evo...and that it's a MUCH better car for you, all around. Save your money, forget the GT3. If your wife wants a GT3 SO bad, she should at least let you keep the Evo. There has to be some middle ground, not just her way or the highway (which pisses me off about marriages).

Ok, enough ranting. Good luck with the whole situation.

That is the next step if I go the GT3 route. If I sell the Evo it will be pretty soon, but I think I would take most of the parts off first.

Every married man here can sympathize with your situation. Although most of us would be trying to make a case to BUY an Evo and sell the (insert boring minivan, vanilla four door ride here) It's like our favorite nasty shirt, or pair of jeans, or ugly recliner, that we just love. We love it BECAUSE its ugly, nasty, dirty, or whatever. Women especially are always getting on us because we value beauty above all else.

Explain to her that you have found the inner beauty of the Evo. You are now a mature man, able to cast lustfull glances at the GT3 but know that a lasting relationship would be better had with the Evo. Tell her you can look past the Evo's outer flaws just as you look past hers. Tell her....um....well..... good luck anyway

Mike

my dad had 996 GT3 and I LOVED that thing. It's at little brutal on the street and tram lines over just about everything, but god that thing is fun. Plus, your wife will only want to ride in the GT3 once, if you get the turbo she'll slowly take it over and stick you with the mini van. It sound like your getting it for the status of owning a high-end Porsche so I think you should just go get a 03-04 widow maker (aka the GT2) and call it day.
