Keep the Evo or get Porsche GT3?

"Yes you can make the EVO to be faster", his EVO already is faster and will be much faster pretty soon. He spent a lot of time and sweat and money into this EVO, and to have it go away because somebody else doesn't like it is tough. He likes the sedate, not too much attention capabilities of the EVO RS, maybe that's just how he likes it, who are we to step on his toes. Just my opinion, but maybe one day he does plan on buying a Porsche, but right now wasn't time, especially when he had so much planned for his EVO and it seems like he is being forced to ditch these ploans. You guys are looking at this wrong, your looking at this as GT3 vs. EVO and not taking his situation into account.

I am about to send the car down to Buschur and have a stroker motor, AEM, and the 3065 put on along with some variation of the Robi Spec suspension. Problem is my wife REALLY HATES THE EVO. She wants me to sell the Evo and order the GT3.
Problem is I really love the Evo, its fast as hell and nobody notices my white RS, which is nice. The GT3 would make a great weekend track car and with the PCCB brakes be pretty reliable to run on the weekends. I know the evo can be made to run faster then the GT3 but I have driven a few Porsche's (993tt, GT3, 996tt) and they are very fun cars to track.
One more twist is the Twin Turbo is also an option over the GT3, the wife has said...whatever you want as long as you get rid of the Evo!
Either car is a sunny day/weekend car.

I love my evo to death but if i could afford a GT3 and but would have to give up my evo in order to get one, i would probably pick the GT3 its just beautiful to look at, and the interior is gorgeus, not to mention the fact that its mechanically amazing in stock form

If you can, get rid of the truck and get the porsche instead. If not, park the truck on the street and the porsche in the driveway.

) but given your chance I'll dump the evo any second. There was a time I would be a blind fool to think my Evo was the end all be all car. But in the grand automotive scheme of things its just another step. There are always better cars out there no matter how much you mod a car to get to the next step. I say the GT3 is the next base step. A moded Evo will be within reach or exceed it with sacrifices in emission, reliability etc. Sometimes its time to move up to a better car.
That being said, I know this persons situation is more complicated than just choosing a better car. So I will give my simplistic opinion on what car I would chose.
I have been growing an affinity to Porsches lately. The GT3 just pushed me over the edge. I figure that its not worth getting an Boxter, Cayman or regular 911 since the Evo can be moded easy to match each one. No, you have to shoot for the Turbo or the GT3. Since the GT3 is the most raw and is NA and almost just as fast as the turbo given the HP and Weight, I like the GT3 the Best!!!
ESPECIALY IN WHITE!

dude it costs alot to take care of. i traded in a porsche boxster for the evo 9 . oil changes are about 100$ if u dont do it urself and aftermarket performance is expensive also. my exhaust i had was 1000$ just for the cat back. headers are 1500 and intake was 400. Yes the attention is not good cuz people will be jealous more then the evo. but if u got money to get the gt3 then im sure u can afford the maintenance. but for me the porsche became a hassle after leaking oil and noisy valves, auto windows on driver side broke and motor mount went car only had 50k miles on it. but if u like ur evo keep it the gt3 will just give u a "status" lol
Just by reading what you've written so far, it seems as if you'd really rather keep it. You said it yourself, you like being able to work on it easily, and doing so is no problem. It performs and behaves like you want it to, and you're also prepared to put another $15k into it. On the flipside, YOUR WIFE, NOT YOU, wants you to get a different car instead. Personally, I see you not being happy with this should you get rid of your car under these conditions, but that's just me. However, if it's you who really wants the change of car, then by all means, do it.
The question posed in this thread IMO is simply rediculous. Anyone who has driven a car of the caliber of the GT3 would jump on it in a second if it was economically viable. You cannot even compare the Evo to the GT3 as they are so far different, its like comparing some kid in his modded CRX to an stock Evo. Yeah, you may find some performance similarities but it immediately ends at that.
I'm not saying the Evo isn't a great car For $30-35k, yea... its awesome. But it's no GT3.
