i drive on average 650 miles a day 6-7 days a week all over the country and i definatly see way more sti' over evo's. i think it has a lot to do with advertising as well, they are in like every mag as a advertisment and are featured in them way more then evos. its like the mags refuse to acknowledge
evos even exist. plus sti has been in the us for a lot longer to build a rep.

Well look how long subarus wrx's, impreza's and sti's have been here vice the evo. Subarus have a much longer history than mitsu'S EVO does here in the US.

I think Subaru, in general has cities like yours on lock down because of their whole lineup being AWD. So the transition to STi's is probably more natural and brand awareness and peception is much much stronger. As in the whole North/Northeast in general. AWD/4wd is actually shunned by most people down here, except pickup truck buyers. But most SUV's here are 2WD.

So here, there is no paractical reason to buy a Subaru over any other car and it strictly comes down to hard core performance, non domestic types of people wanting an AWD vehicle. Someone who moves down here and has the misfortune of owning a Subaru (other then an STi or WRX)and wanting to trade it in can expect less then average or rough values.

Just from browsing around the area I see alot more STi in the OC area, LA area. I have seen a few more Evo's in the IE area. The OC has an inflation of STi, they are like liquor stores...

To answer you question, no real hard facts unless you do some digging/calling around. Maybe a local financial firm did a report or something; this could be very intresting. Ill place my bet on the STi for the sheer fact of its reputation status.

Here in Santa Barbara I've only seen one EVO and about 10 STI's, I will make it 2 by the end of this summer.

Im in a densely populated area here in NJ and I see many more STi's. My friend has the only modded one I know around! Just about every single one I see is stock, and I see a lot of them!

Funny you mention that, the only one ive I seen in santa barbara is a GG IX. He lives in my g/f apartment complex; it is like 5mins away from UCSB campus. His previous car was a white integra. In that same complex is a silver 05 STi.

I agree with you, in So Cal I'm seeing three EVOs to every STi I see, maybe even more EVOs than that. For instance at my job, there are about 5 EVOs in the parking lot, only one person owns a STi/STI

From what I have heard seems like in SoCal there is a ton of EVOs. Ive heard some guys on other boards say the same thing. Im glad its not like that here in NJ. Seeing an EVO whose not one of my friends is very rare. People still stare at me like Im in a spaceship. I got asked my some 40 year old lady at the bank last week "what is that".
