yea man...trade in would NOT be the thing to do right now...It would cost you more money in the long run than if you just fixed it now.

 

Sounds like the engine is lunched. You're getting some good advice the last couple posters. Sack up and fix your car right. It will be stronger than before. Good luck!

His number is 516-557-4526, hes cool with the guys at turbotrix and sean ivey. He gets his customer cars tuned by either of them so he can get u an appointment with either when ur ready for a tune once ur setup is done. Im sure he can give u a resaonable price but if u decide to sell let him know, he may have customers interested

That sucks. Happened to me on my 05 after 4 months of owning her. Was just cruising down the highway, no boost, boom. Few mods = denied warranty = 2nd job and picked up a beater. Been down since March 4 and it's still completely apart in my garage.

Sounds like something let loose. From the sound of things your best bet is to probably let a shop do the work for you. Either way, you're going to be in the market for a beater for a while since you mentioned your broke.

If I were you, I would get a beater and take the head/oil pan off of the evo to get a better idea what is going on in there. Those pieces will be coming off anyway. Unless of course you've never done that kind of work before, then wait until you get money for a shop to look at it.

I'm replacing my engine/head with aftermarket solutions along with the supporting mods (clutch, injectors, etc) and a bit of drivetrain work and the bill is already around $10,000. Start saving.

 

If you are really thinking of trading it in, I would think you could get a 4g63 short block pretty cheap from a junk yard. They've been around so long they should be easy to find.

Also while I am by no means a mechanic, I think the hydro lock theory may be worth looking into. At least it would be an easy thing to check and you wouldn't do more damage. Just pull the plugs and look down the cylinders.

 

If a water jacket has been breeched internally then you may very well be able to sleeve it which is not a big deal. It just depends on how bad it is.

 

How do you know that you were not running lean? Do you have a good AFR Wideband Gauge? What was it reading if you had it?

 

Pull the head. May be as simple as a headgasket. Don't sit on it though. You don't want coolant all in your bottom end. Take it apart fast.

one of my evo tech guy told me that evo piston is weak part,,,,,,,,,,,, its just matter of time no matter what power u make..........
