What can it be=( problem with the evo

OK so yesterday i took one of my good Buddy's for a ride in the Evo, i went to launch(got the 2 step) the car and when i slipped off the clutch the car puttered like 3 times and i heard a back fire.

every since this the car is acting real weird, when im in 2nd-3-4 and i get on it, the rpms will jump up a 1000 then fall like 500 then take off, i am making full boost while all this is going on.

i went on the highway and did a 5th gear pull while at 60mph(2000rpm) the car slowly started going to 2700-2750 then it went to 3k stayed for a split sec then started to take off, rpms never fell.

I also got the dynoflash(base) sometimes when i do the 2step the boost will be at 1.0bar instead of half. never took off while at 1.0.

i dont know if its my clutch going or something to do with the boost. i hope some of this makes sense....

My mods are Dynoflash, drop in k&n and an magnaflow axleback muffler.

Check your intercooler piping, you sound as if you could have a leak somewhere. Sounds like a coupler could be "spreading" under boost messing up your fuel map.

My 2c.

Yes, that's just your clutch slipping. The stocker can't handle 6k 2-step launches - it gets overpowered easily. TIme to replace it.

Then mine CAN'T BE stock. Since the flash I have done at least 15-20 2 step launches. *crosses fingers*

Some guy posted this a while ago and it included a video of his RPM "jump" when shifting, it's the clutch slipping, see if yours looks just like that.

It also depends on how much you slip the clutch or not. My friend is pretty good at launching his car, he pretty much dumps it and it takes off, and he's done it at least 30 times. His clutch feels fine, the more you slip it, the more the clutch burns up.
