I hope this is not a repost, but either way it's still good to remind the Evo owners.

I brought my car into the dealer yesterday and they told me that my wing is recalled so they will replace my wing! (It's got clear coat problems etc....Ugly) The only drawback is that it takes 5 months wait!

But it's good to know though

Go get them.

I had mine replaced on my 03, however it was replaced with one from the IX.

 

you get the plastic IX wing with carbon center, no more full carbon fiber wing....Mitsu quit making them...its cheaper to make and replace with the abs plastic... I would get yours fixed or atleast check into it first since you have the full carbon fiber wing

 

What years have full carbon? I have an 05.

whoa - I thought the IX wing was still carbon but painted over !?! I was about to wet sand mine, thank god for this thread

 

My 03 is Carbon/Carbon. I wouldn't take it in unless it looked terrible.

 

VIII wings are full carbon 03-05
IX wings are plastic/carbon 06.

 

5months? HAHAHA...I've been waiting since last october! :P

 

good to know that, hopefully i wont have to bring mine in anytime soon. i do like that full carbon look though.

 

abs plastic on the sides and carbon in the middle. Makes the wing a lil more flexible. Which i do not like. Pretty soon it's gonna turn into the cheap plastic wing the sti uses.

 

When they first came out with the car, they were having problems with not being able to get enough of the spoilers from the supplier. And now that there is a world wide shortage of CF, well - its even worse. I hope it doesn't go back to the E7 style wing.

 

WTF...I just went in like a couple weeks ago about my rear wing clear coat looking like crap. The Mitsu rep said they would order me a new one. I mentioned the fact that I want the same all carbon fiber wing and not the IX wing. He was like it will be the same as the one you got I should have known it was BS I was told the wings are on national back order and they have no clue when they will be in. If it is not the correct wing then I will just say no deal and they can eat the cost.
