Repost...

The EVO isn't the 2nd most stolen vehicle, but the 2nd most frequently stolen vehicle per 1,000. Still a little scary, glad I bought my alarm although I doubt it's really that much of a deterent.

Hmmm...this might explain the hike on my insurance premium.

Did anyone's premium go up as well?

"Escalades had the highest rate of insurance theft claims for the fourth straight year, according to a study released Wednesday by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Escalade was followed by the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and the Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab pickup"

Does anyone feel that this information being posted to the public makes certain vehicles MORE PRONE to theft now?

Maybe some cars were being overlooked by thieves, but now they have a "list of the nation's most wanted" to guide them.

I wonder if any of the Evo's or parts are being targeted for overseas theft rings?

Most are stolen by druggies looking for cash.
Or maybe illegal immigrants looking for a cool ride

I doubt it, coupe of shady dudes came by last summer and they tried to steal my beater Civic parked right next to my Evo. They didn't even bother looking at the Evo which at the time had the stereo in, aftermarket wheels and all the other goodies (that I don't leave in the car anymore).
After I ran out with a home made naginata ready for some slicing, dudes disappeared in a puff of smoke.
