You're seriously mad at me for you not bothering to check out 5 posts down?

And I resent you calling Evo owners fat!

these numbers are based on claims per evo insured.... silly way to do it when you have such a small sample size of evos

I could be wrong, but this would explain why the Evo is so high on the list. How many Evo owners have the stock head unit? I would bet that many, many do not and theives would know that the Evo is the type of car that a typical owner would put an aftermarket head unit in. So they would stand a higher chance of being hit, not to mention wheels or other objects being taken out of them. [...]
Exactly. The list is "highest rate of insurance theft claims" (2/3 down the page). You'd make a theft claim if:

- your stereo
- your wheels
- your seats
- your spoiler
etc

were ripped off, as well as your car itself. It's not exactly hard to steal any of those parts, I guess. And the best alarm in the world won't help if they cut the battery (unless you have a stealthy second battery somewhere, hmm..). It sucks that there are so many lowlifes around. So what do we do? Remove the spoiler, put these in place of the Recaros, blanking plate for a stereo and steel rims, woohoo.

Of course, "Ten most stolen" makes a much better headline than "Top ten vehicles with the highest rate of insurance theft claims". Never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

Here is the story. It is theft claims per 1000 insured vehicles. As stated above, this could include stolen wheels and rear wings.

No. 1: Cadillac Escalade
Average payment per claim: $17,913

The Escalade offers plenty of eye candy to tempt thieves, from chromed wheels and leather seats to rear-seat DVD systems.

No. 2: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 4WD
Average payment per claim: $10,326

The Lancer Evolution, a high-performance version with more than twice the horsepower of a standard Lancer sedan, was likely targeted because thieves coveted its rear spoilers and special tires and wheels.

No. 3: Dodge Ram 1500 quad cab
Average payment per claim: $10,088

No. 4: Ford F-250/350 supercrew 4WD
Average payment per claim: $17,702

No. 5: Chrysler Sebring
Average payment per claim: $5,077

My thoughts are you should have at least looked at the 1st page of posts in this forum before posting. This makes the 4th thread on the 1st page regarding this.
