Fluid everywhere..... :(

As title says... It looks like its coming from the rubber boot where the clutch fork goes intot he tranni... My first thoughgt was the transfercase b/c the dealer said the whining noise might be it, and i know this is common. However... I have abused it a little in the past (not really recently) and it hasnt gotten worse and b/c i replicate the symptoms at partial throttle and "just right" conditions, i think its just loud drive-train noise from the aftermarket clutch...

Either way, anyone ever see/hear of the boot just givig way and leaking??? at 45k miles?????

Also, i have been hearing a noise from time to time that sounds like stepping on dry leaves or aluminum foil. It seems to happen more on turns, but not always. My 1st thought was the LSD... however, idk now. there was a really loud noise liuke this today at one point, but idk if thats what cause the issue.

Seal/rubber boot go??? I dont think this would just happen, something damaged inside? If so, what...??? I DID SEARCHING!!! CANT FIND RESULTS. lol (warrtalon)

The boots not going to leak anything, you may see graese on it from the fork. Is your clutch fluid low? did you remove your restrictor pill?

UPDATE:

Slave Cyl not leaking, nor is master cyl. Also, perfectly fine on brake fluid. (As far as I know, the brake fluid resavoir is shared by the clutch).

Also, it does seem like there is some tranny fluid around the boot for sure. However, this can't be where it is really leaking from and after wiping the tranni dry, i see fluid collection on the bottom... just no clue where its coming from. seems to be where i cant see, along the side of the tranni where it meets the engine oil pan.

Thoughts/ideas?? Thx.

What color is it? Is it black and very thick, or more of a black and a burnt smell?

Did you replace your rubber line going to the MS with a steel braided one? If so the junction is above the fork/boot right below the battery tray and I guess it may be able to make its way over around the boot. Can you get some pictures for us? Possibly remove the battery/tray?
Also the resevoir for the brake/clutch fluid can be sneaky to read.

Also, what's your location? Someone may be local to you and be able to give it a good look quickly.

Well im almost 100% positive its the tranni... i did the tranni fluid about 2k mikes ago and i see that this fluid is much newer looking than the T.C. fluid, and it's not as slippery.. ITdoes go in the tranni, however, i cant find where it goes to for sure.

Also, NO I have not done a s.s. line.

When I changed my timimg belt, and cams, they didn't put my oilpump balance shaft back "correctly". it was out of phase, and I could feel vibrations thru my seat-bolts at 4K RPM, and that CRACKED my oil-pan. that is the only thing which caused me to leak fluid, could this be your issue? I thought it was the tranny at first also.

i know it must be tranni related. i know its deff not regular oil. i smell gear oil like crazy. I've pretty much narrowed it down to something on the tranni... just cant tell where it is coming from. i might have to rip a lot of stuff apart whne i get home from work... so i can physically see what im looking for. i.e. pull the battery, intake, etc... anything below maybe too.. there's a significant amount of the fluid collecting underneith my started plate (plate on underside of starter that protets it)... worried, but have no idea what this is.

Well... seems as though there may be small hole in the tranni.... Anyone know if this is normal maybe? Top/Front part of the tranni, under the intake? I would throw a 99% assumption in there that there is no way this is supposed to be there. Can someone verify?

There's a sensor there, but uh. . I don't know what it is. Does it look like the hole is supposed to be there?

Absolutely not.... lol :-/ ....well, now I just have to find a good "how to" on removing my transmission. I'd like to rip it out and see the whole picture as far as damage goes. At this point, i need a new one anyways. Maybe some things are salvagable...

I'll do a search in a few, but does anyone have good links to a "how to remove tranni" ?
