Not to get off topic, but I would definitely recommend the Fumoto valve. I've never seen the suredrain so I can't compare them, but the fumoto works well with no issue of taking too long to drain. Since I don't overtighten the oil filter oil changes are a tool-less (and relatively painless) procedure -- I can almost do it without putting the car on ramps. The only reason I do use the ramps is that I can't get my hand between the drain pan and car since it just barely fits. Oh yeah, I still have the plastic undertray on my car too.

If they were unable to do it for the price on the estimate they should have called you before they started the work and asked you if you still wanted to go through with the oil change. I work at Circuit City and we do this just for good customer service.

that is typical how services scam you. DO NOT PAY $105!

There is noway an Oil change cost you $105. But the most important thing is:

PAY WHAT YOU AGREED WITH

if they have to raise up the price, they should have told you before they start the work. If they fail to ask you before, then they should not charge you for $150. If the guy who quote you $60 said he put the wrong quote, then HE IS THE ONE made the mistake HE SHOULD PAY not YOU!!!

WTF is wrong with these people???

Walk in there with two duffle bags and act nervous and put water on your face, to make it look as if your sweating profusly. then ask them if they are going to honor the original price or not, with a angry smirk on your face. jk. Just talk to the manager and calmly explain your situation.

This is what I would do. Start by being polite but insistant, and get progressively louder in front of the other customers until they cave on that price. Then, go to the parts desk and stock up on filters and drain crush washers. Then go to Wal Mart and stock up on jugs of Mobil 1 10W30 synthetic. Then next time you go to the dealer, insist they charge you labor-only and provide the parts. It should be $20 for 15 minutes of labor. Tell them not to do the extra inspections since they don't really do it anyway.

I would never have the DEVIL do any work on my car unless it is free under warrenty. I could never spend even $60.00 for an oil change when it takes 20 min to do and $25.00 worth of supplies each time. And most stations in PA at least will take the oil for free because the burn it for heat in the winter and it is like gold to them. The more oil they get that warmer they stay. Infact the station near my house actually thanks me everytime.

We don't have that luxury here but some auto parts stores take it for free. However, if you put it in a clear container like a milk jug and mark it as oil the curbside recycling takes it. It's actually better than taking it anywhere.

Ok, here's what happened. I went to the dealership to pick up my car. I first asked if they got the right oil in it before I started arguing with them. He said yes. Then I said I was only going to pay $60 since that's what I agreed on. Get this, he said when he called me to tell me the price was $105, they hadn't touched my car yet, and that he was asking for permission to do it for $105 and that I said yes. That's a complete lie. When he called me, he said the job was already done, and that he was just letting me know that it will be $105 instead of $60. I called him a liar and I said he was changing the story, and he got really, really red and didn't know what to say. Then his boss talked to me, and said that these mistakes happen blah blah blah. He said just pay the $105, and next time if I bring the oil, they will do the oil change for free or something. It was circular arguments going back and forth (even though I was right). In the end, with the pressure to get back to work (I was just on lunch break), and knowing that they wouldn't let me go, I had to pay.I’m a pretty mellow guy, but this really got me angry, but what could I do. I don't think I've heard of bigger crooks than Steven's Creek and Capitol Mitsubishi in San Jose. The same family owns both and a few other dealerships in California.

Cliffnotes: End result, I lost…
Lesson learned: Find time to do your own work...

That sucks dude.

I would call the local news and tell them what happened. Alot of local news stations have teams that "call" them on BS like this. If you can't get your money back at least make them look like the A-holes they are on TV.

Honestly, it's not the money because money always comes and goes. It's the just the principle of the situation. I can't believe he lied like that, and I bet they're all laughing about it right now.

Sorry to hear that. If they are that crooked I would check and see what color your oil is, and make sure the filter looks new. Sometimes crooked shops just pretend like they did the work when they didn't touch anything. When confronted they just pretend like it slipped through the cracks and it was a mistake...

Sorry to hear that. If they are that crooked I wouldn't put it past them not to change the filter, or even the oil! I would check the color of the oil, and make sure the oil filter looked new. If I ever let people touch my car i'm watching them like a hawk because 9 times out of 10 they do something horribly wrong.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the boss that I talked to today was the same guy that I talked to when I was buying my car. He gave me a REALLY good deal (invoice + 0%), and I was really embarrassed to argue with him over $40 after what he did for me. That's another reason why I just gave up.

Next time, get 6 quarts of Mobil 1 Syn. oil, and have one of the quick change oil places do it in like 15 mins. Firestone charged me $15 last time.
