Just take it to a different dealership or do it yourself. I personally am going to try the buying my own supplies and taking them to a local place thing.

Southcoast does $40 oil changes for us, if they are close enough to you.

sorry but you're a ***** for letting them push you around. you shoulda told them you agreed on the price and if they didn't give you the car you were going to call the cops and report them for stealing it.

ands who cares if the guy gave you a good deal. service has nothing to do with car sales. it's usually a completely different building.

have fun paying $200 next time. because i doubt they'll remember what they told you.

i had my car in the dealership for some warranty work (transmission synchros) i signed the estimate that it would cost me $100 (deductable on warranty) took them 2 days to do the work. make sure it was covered etc. they also saw i had a bad valve cover gasket and replaced that for me as well as topped off my fluids and cleaned my car (it was really dirty too)

i didn't even buy my car from them. although i did know a guy from online that works there so he talked with the head service guy to make sure i was treated right.

also saying you don't have time is bull****. you work at 9 then just get up an hour earlier and do it before work one day.

Doesn't it seem odd to you that out of 4 pages and 48 responses, you're the only one that doesn't seem to be able to give a decent, logical response? I'm not even going to begin arguing with you. I mean paying $200 next time?

think paying 100 bucks for oil sucks. wait till you take it to them to do the fluid change on the tc and tranny and they put tranny fluid in both units. Then wait 500miles. Oh yea thats when the fun begins. Then they tell ya that theres no way only 50miles wiht the wrong fluid can cause a messed up tc. Oh I love the dealership

Then I said I was only going to pay $60 since that's what I agreed on. Get this, he said when he called me to tell me the price was $105, they hadn't touched my car yet, and that he was asking for permission to do it for $105 and that I said yes. That's a complete lie. When he called me, he said the job was already done, and that he was just letting me know that it will be $105 instead of $60. I called him a liar and I said he was changing the story, and he got really, really red and didn't know what to say. Then his boss talked to me, and said that these mistakes happen blah blah blah. He said just pay the $105, and next time if I bring the oil, they will do the oil change for free or something. It was circular arguments going back and forth (even though I was right). In the end, with the pressure to get back to work (I was just on lunch break), and knowing that they wouldn't let me go, I had to pay.I’m a pretty mellow guy, but this really got me angry, but what could I do. I don't think I've heard of bigger crooks than Steven's Creek and Capitol Mitsubishi in San Jose. The same family owns both and a few other dealerships in California.

Cliffnotes: End result, I lost…
Lesson learned: Find time to do your own work...

Call your local States's Attorny and file a fraud claim with them. This is classic bait and switch.

I would have refused to pay. I would have told them to put the old oil back in and the old filter back on if they need to, but raising the price AFTER an agreed upon price has been made is illegal, unethical, and just **** poor customer service.

I would have also asked to speak to the general manager for the dealership (not just the service manager.)

Also be sure to tell everyone (especially in your local forum) which dealership this is so they can all avoid it.

All of a sudden this becomes the most valuable $40 this dealership has ever collected.

MAKE THEM PAY

I completely agree. It's not about the money. It's about showing them that if they screw with you there are repercussions and it is easier to just do the right thing. There is no reason for them to stick it to you on this.

Think about it. They are not loosing money on a $60 oil change. They are not making as much as they do on a $100 one but I guarantee they are at least breaking even after they pay the mechanic. So, why not say "Hey, we screwed up and quoted the wrong price. We'll give it you for the price we quoted but, just so you know next time it will be our standard price of a $100."

I bet you would at least consider taking it back there for future work because of their honesty and them doing the right thing. Now they lost a customer (hopefully), You don't trust them not to screw you again because they lie and, you're out of extra money for no real reason.

I could be wrong though.
