Unbelievable, I can't believe this.
/Rant On/
Again, the Evo is treated as the red-headed step child. I can't believe the disrespect shown to the Evo in the latest addition of Car and Driver Magazine.
In the One Lap write up, you would think there would be one mention of the AMS car, just one, but no, there is an obscure reference to the 'Torrid' Evo, and a quartet of STi's.
This article upset me on so many levels. First, I was upset because there was no mention of the stellar performance these cars gave (Luke and Jon), and how they dominated the latter events, showing small cube (boosted) cars could hold their own in endurance races.
No mention of how the race Jon and Luke were putting on, and how the 'real' nail-biter was the Mid-Price sedan series, not in the Big Bore cars.
They spent pages talking about minivans, a guy getting pulled over, and then how the big bore cars broke (in great detail). They noted the '650whp' corvette, but made absolutely no mention of the 600whp Evo in the same field.
The real insult was the write up on the Honda. It was noted how unusual it was for an compact to finish in the top ten in One Lap. The same HOnda that was behind Jon overall, and behind both Luke and Jon in class. It was so noted in a individual write-up on the Honda car, a whole section dedicated to the corporate sponsor car.
I have been a fan of One Lap (AKA 'the cannonball') since the day is started. It has been my dream to compete, because the race was always the 'common' man racing against each other, not against the corporate hord. And, to date, with Brock, there was always some mention of all the cars, especially, the top five. This year, and last, the only mentions were by the big corporate sponsors (which is understandable), but to totally not mention the 'other' common folks is wrong, and against what this race was about.
Amazing, top-five, no, top-three, and no mention.
For me, I will be renewing my subscriptions to SCC and Modified, but Car and Driver will no longer dawn my mailbox. If they don't think the Evo is good enough to mention, or the Mid Price sedan in general, then I don't think I am going to waste my time on them.

motor trend is obsessed with the car, if you just want to read about people who agree with what you think, then you can read that magazine. No need to get a wacked out because they didnt write enough about your car.
Ok, I understand your points, and there are more things in the world to 'worry' about. However, knowing what the race was about, and knowing what the culture, used, to be, that is what upsets me. Oh, did I mention I helped those guys with the car, so it was more personal to me.
I think next year, I am going to give them 10G and not run, just to get me a nice write-up. Obviously, it isn't about your performance in the event, it is the size of your check that really matters.
The Cannonball has finally lost it's roots.

I've been reading C&D for almost 30 years. Granted, it had its share of better times - who can forget PJ O'Rourke's work - but I always enjoy its humor and its performance-driven perspective. I don't always agree with the reviews, but so what? If I did, it wouldn't be nearly as much fun to read. It's there for entertainment and product awareness and I think it fulfills that mission.
Stop&Turn, Don't listen to all those responses, if you look down they all say Newbie under their SN's.
I totally agree with you, and i think that is horrible. None the less, that Honda was very impressive, but to not mention a car in the top 3 is just an insult. I can't really get bent out of shape because there was so many cars they didn't get to, but every car in the top 3 final standing should have had a page to itself.
Print that post and send it to them, you'll probably get hatemail of the month

Migrate over to Road & Track where, in the current issue, the MR blows away the high dollar Porsche Cayman S at the track. Quoting R&T, "The Evo requires less familiarity, allowing your to just get in and drive really quickly." However the Cayman makes up for this by having fitment look and smell according to R&T.
These magazines exist to move expensive metal off of car lots. So reading them is like talking to a car salesman. It is the wrong place to go when looking for information.

), and not get any mention about it in the magazine is quite disappointing. i think AMS deserves some recognition for their achievements

Agreed.
