The one thing I hate about my EVO

Aside from not having cruise......

.....the most annoying thing about my car right now is how noisey the clutch. Basically when my car is parked and not in gear the cluch mechanizm makes a bunch of nice rattling ticking noises. Makes the car sound like it has rod knock. As soon as I push in the clutch (even a little) all the noises go away.

I have test driven several other EVOs and they were all noisey....though some louder than others. I wish there was a way to make them silent.

Anyone know if any aftermarket clutches that tame things down?

Get a new clutch and some bytchin. or sell the car

The thing called chatter? Most Twin Disk do... but I think if you get lucky, You might get a silent one

Funny thing i have the exact same noise. I almost thought it was the DP rattling, but likewise when i engage the clutch the noise goes away. I think it is the sign of a clutch at the end of its life!

sounds like your throw out bearing might be going bad. is this a stock clutch?

Yea, its the "TOB" they all do it...some more than others. Mine has a Exedy clutch kit "twin plate" and the Exedy TOB rattles a little bit.. If you thought it was loud now, Just turn your A/C on and listen.

Just have to deal with it i suppose.

I do agree, there is nothing worse then the rattle of a worn out "TOB" on a perfectly good running car.

what is a throw out bearing? what does it do, and is it expensive to replace? (can you tell i'm experiencing this issue???)

Yeah, we've been through this:

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=194951

I only notice it when I am at a drive through with the window rolled down and the a/c on.

I never had that porblem, now I have an Exedy twin plate and it rattles like hell when I push the clutch in. I kinda like it though, it sounds like I have a built engine. Which I dont yet, but soon.
