Question Windshield Wiper Fluid Leak

My windshield fluid sprayers have been leaking for a couple days now. It's not stuck spraying, just after i drive my car there is fluid leaked all over the hood, and it continues to leak out until the car cools down.

I searched and didn't see anything indicating it was a common problem. Has this happened to anyone else? How did you / should i, remedy this problem?

What should i check, or replace to get this to stop? All the lines look good, so i'm assuming the pump is stuck on or something. Any mechanics care to chime in?

That methanol/ethanol/ethylene glycol mix aint too good for the paint. Try not to let it soak on the paint, esp in the sun.

From what it sounds like it could only be one of 2 things. first I would check to make sure you pressure relief hose isnt clogged or pinched somewhere. It could just be excessive pressure build up from the heat. Or something to do with the pump, make sure your manual swtich on the console isnt slightly pushed in. I dont think it would be the pump itself though because its electrical and needs voltage, so possibly a crazy electrical problem but not likely. Probably something simple.

That's what i was thinking. Thanks for the help, this is the exact type of post i was looking for.

Do you have any idea where i can find info on the pressure relief hose? That is most likely what it is. It started the first day it got nice here, and hasn't stopped for a few days, all of which have been very nice. I just have no idea where to find this, and what to do with it when i do.

Anything helps, thanks!

It's the one that dumps fluid on your shoes when you over-fill the tank. It is in the front side of the tank, about 6" down from the filler. It's just a small hose hanging down, but if it is clogged, the tank will pressurize when hot.

Your tank is in the trunk correct?

All that i could see is two hoses to the left of the filler cap. I tried to give a little tug to both of them in order to get them to come up to find out which was simply the over-fill tube, but neither came free.

Anybody got a picture, or link to pictures or something?

I'm pretty sure there is a tiny hole on the cap of the washer fluid tank. Make sure it's not clogged because when temp. changes it causes a pressure change in the tank causing it to come out of the spritzers

MIne has done this for 2 yrs now. Blue stains on my white hood , nice.

I have had them change the sprayer nozzle twice,, still leaks.

There should be a tsb on this!

Otherwise I would be happy with clear wiper fluid!!!!!! Water works in the summer,, not good in the winter.

I use RainX fluid, costs a little more but doesn't stain.

I don't think there is a little hole on the cap.. And i am just going to run no fluid, because this is rediculous.

Running no fluid is BAD. At least use water or a mix.

The pressure hose hes talking about is under the hood, close to the air filter. When you fill the tank to the brim, you can see and hear it leaking out on the floor in front of the front driver side tire. (Is this hose here because heat can actually cause alot of pressure in the tank?)

Also, there is a larger tank in the trunk (right side...Oh if you also over fill this tank it will leak on the floor too).

Does anyone know if both tanks supply the same things? The only spray locations im aware of is the front IC spray and windshield spray. Which tank supplies what?

for some reason this is a common problem with DSMs- my Talon will leak like you said but only if I use the washers that day. It took 13 yrs for it to develop this problem so dunno I what caused it. Thankfully my evo doesn't do this. On my DSM the washer rez cap has a clear vent hole and I also changed both nozzles but it still oozes. Very annoying.
