You should also use Diaqueen in the rear dif.

I use Penzoil Synchromesh in the tranny and change it after every lapping day.

If you don't believe everyone telling you to ONLY USE DIAQUEEN in the xfer case call T.R.E. or Shep and ask them. They will specifically tell you NOT to use shockproof in an EVO xfer case.
Yup! only Diaqueen in xfer case and rear diff. Use BG/BGII/Synchromesh in tranny!

Hmm....Thats strange when shep told me to use either BG/Pennzoil in the Tranny. Heavy shockproof or diaqueen only in the tc, and heavy shockproof or diaqueen in the rear diff.??? Now why would he tell me one thing and you something else?

Now what I did find is that heavy shockproof in the rear diff. wont work after a while without friction modifier added. Makes the rear diff. chatter and vibrate. I use 75w90 redline in the rear diff. now instead of the shockproof and its working great...Next spring I am doing heavy with friction modifier, I like how the heavy shockproof works. Its amazing stuff if you read how it functions and dsm guys love it. Hence why I use it, I follow the dsm crowd as much as possible.....

So I dont know why everyone exclaims "only" factory fluid when dsm guys use shockproof religously? Now what makes the evo drivetrain so "prude" when in comes to fluid? It doesnt.....If you use the correct fluid you wont have issues.

Ex. Redline 75w90, or light shockproof will kill your tc.....But diaqueen and heavy shockproof wont hurt a thing.

So basically you have options for every part of the drivetrain.
Tranny - Pennzoil or BG
TC - "Heavy" Shockproof or Diaqueen
Rear Diff. - "Heavy" Shockproof w/ friction modifier, 75w90 gear oil (redline), or diaqueen.

A DSM transfer case and an EVO xfer case are completely different. I see absolutely no reason to not use Diaqueen LSD oil. Riddle me this....why NOT use diaqueen?

I ran shockproof heavy in my GSX but I see no reason to switch to SPH for the EVO when the stock fluid is top of the line.

Why doesn't someone do an oil analysis before jumping to conclusions? otherwise all you can do is guess, which is what 95% of the people out there are doing. So how many people think mobil 1 5w, 10w-30 is good oil? quite a few.

I've gotten my oil tested many times (amsoil) and it's always shown that I was changing my oil too soon at 5k miles in all my cars. I still however, change my oil at 5k, or sooner if I do a lot of track days just for the hell of it.

I think you are confused. I change my rear diff and xfer case fluid every 15k and it never comes out like water. It does get a tad darker than fresh oil but that is to be expected.

My car sees track day after track day as well as very aggressive daily ripping and tearing. I haven't had a single problem with drivetrain.

I just swapped out my front open diff with a ralliart unit. When inspecting the transfer case internals they looked like new.

I'm not sure what would possess you to just look at something and then decide that the Mitsu engineers had dropped the ball.
