OMG you guys are INSANE. I am a painter (ICAR gold class) and rattle canning krylon on a CAR??????? you guys are nuts. Take it to someone like myself or any other painter cause the end result if you DIY in a garage with krylon is gonna be a huge heartache. And you can not krylon it then take it to a body shop for the clear coat they would laugh in your face. YOU DO NOT COCKTAIL DIFF BRANDS OF PAINT bc it will not adhere to itself. You could get away with it a lil but not with krylon. Take it to a body shop it will only save you $$$ headaches and laughs from your friends. If you need any help or advice with painting hit me up with a PM. Oh and the show car look is done with lots of clear, many many coats after 2 or 3 coats and it bakes in the booth you WET sand it flat then buff it back to a shine. And you can wet sand anything, IMO all good painters wet sand its just cleaner.

true... but Carbon Fiber is going to cost a whole lot more than just painting... if the only thing he wants is the two tone look... especially if all he is doing is the hood/trunk/roof

I understand the wide body thing... as we all have our own opinion... I think unless its going to be strictly a show car... ANY wide body car is pointless... That just more stuff to hit or more stuff for people to destroy if they crash into you

I have a silver Evo and was thinking about 2 toning it (painting the hood, roof, trunk - black). Masking would be easy, etc...
When I lived in Raleigh I painted cars for about 5 years. While my motor has been out I have been preping my Evo for paint. I am doing the same thing with my car with the hood, roof and trunk, but I am color matching them with my rims. I am also only painting the hood in between the 2 body lines, and I got a Lancer ES wingless trunk lid. It should be finshed up in the next 3 weeks. The next time you are over this way you can check it out and if you like it you can leave it hear one weekend when you go to the mountians. And I can do it up for a small fee...
