Is there a towbar or bicycle rack for an Evo IX ?

I do not want to tow any thing simply to carry 3 bicycles on the weekend

I thought this was going to be my sensible 4 door car.

 

^ahah senisible 4 door car! i think you may have bought the wrong car.

 

With the wing on you might run into some difficulty. Withouth the wing, there are several options for a trunk mount bike rack (thule, yakima, to name a few).

 

Just get a tow hitch and use a 1 1/2" hitch mounted bike rack.

 

I have a Yakima rack loaded (1K worth) with Q45 towers for sell. Check http://www.yakima.com/ for clips for the evo. You will need two sets. Only $50 bucks for clips. It is top mounted, which is the best. I would practically give it away just to see it on an evo! If it fits, PM me. I think it would look cool on a rally car. There's a modded wrx wagon around here with one on it and it looks damn good.

 

If you can find the extra cash buy a used Ranger or S10 for around 4k. I did the trailer hitch thing on my 2003 Accord Coupe and it drove me crazy. That's a fair amount of weight cantilevered out there and the rear of the car is not purpose built with a structure to support it. My second choice would be the roof rack Thule makes one that mounts to the factory clips hidden in the trim strips on the roof. The EVO has the clips (GSR only, not the MR or RS) for this purpose so I would search for the rack that uses them.
