Well, if you hold it in for like 6-8 seconds and it doesn't get hot, you have other kinds of problems. Also, I installed LED dashlights by coming off the back of the lighter and running the wires across and under the floorboards, up the pillar, across the top, and to the back of the rear-view mirror. Just takes a bit of time and effort to tuck them away good. Everything snaps or goes back into place.

Hi guys Im working on this now and find that the cigarette lighter has a fuse link on its base. You have to remove the console and find the lighter's nut that locks the positive wire .If you look around it you will find and L shape black wire crimped to 4 contacts .It should be blown (if you already checked your fuse on the drivers side behind the coin compartment) .Now you have to remove the nut to remove that part and go for replacement on the dealer or like me, solder another piece of wire or a small fuse to it . It was hard to find this with my ohm/volt meter but here it is. Good luck !
