I would maybe agree slightly with you guys if my Pilots were the stock 235/45/R17s like the Advans. But I'm running 245/45/R17s That's a little bit more surface area. So it's an unfair comparison unless they're equal size.

PS' will be my replacement tires but they don't make the Advans look sad by any means.

Did you notice much difference in road noice compared to the Advans?

Yeah, usually the lower the tread rating, the stickier the tire for most all modern tires. The Y, W, Z or whatever letter is the speed rating. Meaning that it can go so fast before it blows up. So a 235-45 ZR 17 tire would mean its 235mm wide, the ratio of the sidewall to the width (aspect ratio) is 45, its speed rated to 170+mph, and it mounts to a 17" rim. Then it will have the treadwear rating in a numerical value, and a traction and temperature rating as well. I belive it goes by AA being the highest, then A, B and so forth. Never seen a C rated temp or traction before though.

those dumba$$es at discount tire didn't even sell you the correct tires. I would have gone down to a lower profile if you are running wider tires. Now your speedometer is going to be off.

No, just because a tire has a lower treadwear rating does not mean it is sticker than another tire.

Go get advans in the same size as the PS and you will retract your statement. If you only care about dry also give azenis 615's a try. As they will be my next tire.

Yeah, this was quite a mistake. You paid all this money for these tires without doing research, and then you make claims without actually going to a track to verify. You really don't know how well they corner, and the speed rating means NOTHING to you. The speed rating doesn't mean you can take turns better - it only has to do with top speed stability, and I highly doubt you will EVER be need the maximum speed rating of an Advan. I challenge you to go to a real track and put down some track times to prove your claims. It's best to not say anything until you have lap times - that's what I did with my 255/40-17 Azeni RT615s. I didn't say anything until I had verifiable lap times that were outstanding. In fact, that video of me passing Z06s is with my Azenis that only cost $600 at Discount Tire, including mounting, balancing, warranty, and everything else you got. Your Michelins are not $450 better than my Azenis...

In fact, you are misinformed.

the speed ratings, while yes, they do effect all forms of driving with the tires, they do not yield any specific results.

The speed ratings, S, T, H, V, Z (ZR) W AND Y are just to indicate the intended maximum speed of the tire, even though much else comes with it....thats all it was designed for.

Just the same, no tire aside from the RE01 and Advan Neova are as hard a sidewall as the AO46 for a regular non R compound street tire.

The PS2 is one of the best, but has softer sidewall yet max grip is definitely something to marvel at.

I would say you are almost right, however as an all around tire the pS2 is superior than the RT 615 or whatever it is you run, or the Advan. Strengths and weakness in all, but wet traction and max grip were always two really strong points, more so than my Advans or RT's

nothing really compares to the advans. Not even the SO3 which is also Y rated. If the price was reasonable I would stick with the advans for the track.

I had to laugh my asz off at car bowling...

I think someone is trying to justify a bad purcahse..... if you try hard enough you may convince yourself of it man.

Just FYI I have run these tires and I like my Falken RT615's much better and I can buy 2 sets for what you paid brother.

Holy sh*t everyone...give the guy a break. If he likes them and if he believes they are better than the Advans then so be it.

I happen to have these tires as well and I agree w/ Varrius. They are nice tires. I haven't been to a road race yet so I wouldn't be able to tell you if they ACTUALLY are "better." But I will tell you this tho, when I had my Advans, all they wanted to do was slide all over the place (canyon runs). And make a whole lot of screaching noise while doing it too.

I just don't understand all the hype about the Advans
