For all you High-Horsepower guys.

I just purchased a set of four Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. They were expensive, yes. But you get what you pay for. I got them $1094.00 installed and out the door at Discount Tire. It included a reasonable warranty, as well. They do free rotation and balancing for the life of the tire. Not bad, huh? They will repair them or replace them if they cannot be repaired if you get a nail in them. The tires are Y rated, that's 186+ MPH. These are the tires they put on Exotics and High-End Sports Cars. You guys seriously need to look into them if you actually care about your cornering and braking performance. Stop being cheap. Khumo's and all those other third-rate tires are robbing you of cornering and braking abilities. These tires brake like a DREAM. They corner like it's nothing. Not to mention, through it all, you don't feel a thing. They ride like a luxury car and have the performance of a race car. They make the stock Advan's look VERY sad.

Michelin Pilot Sport A/S

There are no street tires that have a stiffer sidewall then the stock ADVANs..... period!!!! How many miles did you put on your Advans before you switched them??

The Advans are only good for up to 168mph. They are W rated. The Pilot's are a much more stable tire in all conditions.

I put 9,900 miles on them. They didn't need to be changed, but the left rear tire had a HUGE nail in it. I'd rather buy new tires then risk my life. I could hear it hissing, the air was releasing. I popped the spare on and went to Discount Tire. Good thing they're only a mile away!

There are some that can. It's not just the max speed, though. The Y rating means it is more STABLE under all conditions then a W rated tire. So, for example. You'll brake better out of 100mph then you would with a W rated tire. You will take the corner with less chance of breaking loose then a W rated tire.

I am sorry, but I think you are completely wrong. The advans are as close to a racing spec tire to come as o.e that I know of. I have owned the pilot sports on my previous e36 m3. Very good wet grip, but does'nt even touch the advans in dry grip. just my .02.

I put these tires on about a year ago. I absolutely hate them. I can't wait until they wear out and I can put some Advans back on.

The dry grip plain sucks. In the rain, its a lot better than the advans, but in SoCal, it rarely rains. Lets put it this way, I've been able to burnout in the car w/ 5 people in it.

Go to the track with the pilot sports and you will sing a different tune.

Now, pilot sport cups are a different story.

Michelin Pilot Sport's are better all around tires but to say "They make the stock Advan's look VERY sad" that is just not true! if you want the best dry street performance tire you can't do any better then the Advans!

Isn't the tread wear what determines the stickiness?
